i've been struggling recently and was inspired to write this and i legitimately think it helped a lot. i hope this encourages others as much as it did me, this was purely for my own emotional regulation and religious turmoil i've been experiencing lately but it helped me process and express some things and yeah. i wrote this in about thirty minutes and i think its could be some of my best writing ever but anyway
yeah i actually did cry while writing this (in fact the tears are still threatening to return as i type this summary) but anyway. enjoy i guess? i hope you find this encouraging or at the very least sweet and entertainingactual summary: a child sits alone, grieving and struggling. the Presence seeks it out and reminds it of important truth.

I got an ask on tumblr about Finch and it turned into a whole oneshot/drabble. to anon who suggested Finch coming from an abusive family, here you go <3
contains both implied and direct description of physical violence on a minor as a method of abusive "punishment", using a belt. if that rubs you the wrong way don't read. it's canon-typical if you ask me (especially for the time period) but i understand it can be triggering
basically Finch gets caught by his abusive parents after running away weeks prior and pays for it dearly; Jack steps in back at the lodging house and proceeds to become The Older Brother Ever -

this past semester (spring 2025) i had an english assignment to write an essay about a "haunted space" since we'd been discussing a novel (Colin Dickey's Ghostland) that described "haunted" as "having evidence of being occupied". so i decided to worldbuild my ATFB universe and write about a place from it!!

Summary
There are some great quick-and-dirty guides to HTML on A03. This is not one of them - it is a comprehensive guide
It's now 2025, a decade later. A03 supports some new HTML and and we're all walking around reading fic on supercomputers that fit in a jean pocket. It was time update this and take a crack at finishing it. (Links and Images are in, the new Audio and Video tags are not.)
The previous three chapters have been divided into smaller concepts. Each tag continues to have - at a minimum - a link to the w3schools page about it (so you can learn more), a code example, and the result of the code example. Most tags have their attributes, things like [src] or [title], listed and examples of how using the attributes modify the tags.
There's a chapter on Bad Ideas, including how some of the archive's default CSS is available to you to format your work (users can't turn that off by hiding a workskin!)
Oh. And I added a bunny army. You could learn how to add one too.

Summary
In his dreams, there had always been a voice. A soft melodic voice that sang their mother's lullaby. A more monotonous, but just as loving voice that promised he'd teach him to fight one day, once he was old enough of course. The doting voice of a mother laughs with a toddler as she gently tries to fix a small crown onto the boy's brow. And then there was the gentle voice of a father, that promised to always keep him safe from those who'd do them harm.
And in the morning when the boy would awake, he'd wonder who exactly he needed to be protected from.
"Tommy?" A voice called out from the doorway and Tommy grinned gleefully at the sight of his older brother.
"Dream!" He yelled, stumbling out of bed and into his arms, hugging the man tight. His brother returned the hug in kind, his hands pressing warmly into the spot on his back where his wings would ignite from for the first time in a few days, fully grown.
Surely Dream was all the protection Tommy would ever need in this world, right?
A knot of doubt coiled tightly in his chest.

“W-What do you- I mean can I- are you here to rob us?” The person managed to stammer out.
Siren snorted. “No. I’m just here to order some food.”
“Wh-What about him?” The cashier asked, glancing at Tommy. “Did you- did you kidnap him?”
“I mean… yeah, let’s go with that in case this ends up on the news,” Siren shrugged, looking back at Tommy. “I kidnapped you, right?”
“Yeah, sure,” Tommy agreed, knowing that if they said he was kidnapped, it would keep people from getting suspicious of why he was seen in public with Siren. “Anyway, can I get the chicken nuggets happy meal, with a coke?”
or, how Tommy—who is not a hero, or a villain, or even a vigilante—saves the life of one of L'Manberg's most feared supervillains, and accidentally ends up becoming the resident doctor for every supervillain in town (and maybe gets a family along the way too).
