Soap makes it out of that tunnel alive. Grappling with a newly impaired body and mind unfit for military service, he’s forced to grieve life as he knew it. Ghost is determined to help him figure out how to do that.
Only it seems that Soap’s old life isn’t quite finished with him yet.

Summary
John MacTavish has desensitised himself to the idea of his own death. He’s chosen to live by the sword, and subsequently made peace with the idea of dying by it.
Now hand picked to be part of Task Force 141, his faith and loyalty to the system is tested through adversity.Unknowingly, he signs himself up for a five year road through hell and back to take down the system Vladimir Makarov is still operating from out of prison, encountering near death experiences with traitors, cartels and terrorist groups alike while he struggles to maintain his family life on the side.
But there’s a lot that happens over the course of five years that isn’t covered by extensive mission reports. Things said off comms, words exchanged between safehouse bedsheets, and just maybe, its enough to convince him to keep himself alive.

The 141’s common room might be Soap’s favorite. It’s nothing fancy, a couple of ratty couches shoved into one corner, and a kitchenette in the other. Soap wouldn’t have it any other way, as it has something no other room on base has - his taskforce.
...Maybe there’s one thing he’d like to change about the common room, and perhaps in the 141 in general. And it all starts and ends with the masked bastard they call Ghost.

Soap enjoys working with his new squad, taskforce 141. He feels comfortable with Gaz and Price, yet he yearns to be closer to his Lieutenant, Ghost. He falls asleep imagining a world where their relationship was different.
He wakes up the next day to Ghost knocking on his door, acting friendlier than anyone has ever seen. Soap is happy, but a part of him can't help but worry...

*New Chapter!*
Heading to the front office he’s really starting to feel the loss of his morning coffee. He’s so tired he almost misses the clumps of mud and dirt that are starting to cover the pathway. But there’s no way he could miss a whole plot dug up. Right next to the brand new bulbs he planted yesterday a whole plot is disturbed, grass, topsoil, down to the rocky soil that lies deep under.
“I swear to Christ if those boys dug up the wrong plot-” he starts, but it dies in his chest. The actual plot isn’t very far from where he stands. He can see it from there, and he can see it neatly refilled with the green tarp covering it, waiting to be reseeded with grass. That cold discomfort sets into his stomach again, and all his reassurances melt away. Something else dug this plot up.
The headstone is old, unreadable and crooked as it sits at the maw of the hole. It’s dug sloppy and uneven, like it wasn’t even done with a tool. Like it was done with nothing more than bare hands.
John is a humble graveyard keeper. Happy, if not a bit bored. Then a grave is disturbed, a stranger appears at his house, and everything changes.

Summary
John MacTavish hasn't seen Simon Riley since the day Simon rushed him to a London trauma center... and then walked away. The absence made John's road to recovery all the more agonizing, but luckily, the rest of the 141 along with other friends and family filled the hole left by a ghost.
Now, three and a half years later, John finally has his life together. He works for the MOD (and the CIA... ahem) as a civilian demolitions consultant. He's got a house, a (mostly) clear head, and most importantly, a date with someone new to his best mate's wedding.
John's ecstatic to be standing up as Kyle's best man. Unfortunately, it also means standing in the same room as a certain Lieutenant. It's okay, though. For Kyle's sake, John can keep all the anger and hurt festering inside of him in check. All he has to do is avoid Simon for the next few hours, and they'll go their separate ways.
Too bad Simon has other plans that, unbeknownst to either of them, will change their lives forever.
For better or for worse.

Summary
Ghost was still sore. Most specifically, about the fact that the moment he had tried to get back to Soap, still in bed in his motel room back in Chicago, they had been told they needed to leave almost immediately. Bundled into a plane and sent home to sit, stony faced, at a debriefing that was miserable and tedious. One which even Laswell looked annoyed to be at, which Ghost chalked up to the fact that she had a beautiful wife, and a crusty little dog that needed walking, waiting at home.
Soap had glanced at him across the table, bottom lip jutting out until he caught himself and it was sucked back up into an expression that resembled something a bit more professional. But, Simon could see it in his eyes. The disappointment.

a sequel to caught me gawking, set directly after Ghost and Soap have returned, post-shagging and post-post-final MW2 mission in Chicago. Soap's in a jam and Ghost is in the shit because despite his neatly defined outward flaws, like being incomprehensible half the time, he's quite enjoying Soap's company.

Thank God.
Johnny’s grip loosened on his rifle, dropping the muzzle forwards. Ghost was on him in a second, only needing to take a single stride to get to Soap and tuck an arm around Soap’s waist, tugging the weapon from his hand.
Soap could feel his heart beat in his left arm- hanging limply at his side, blood dripping off his fingers. “Nah, still on earth last I checked.”
