Summary
Penelope has been in a terrible car accident. While she recovers from her injuries in the care of Violet Bridgerton, she also has to contend with the fact that she can't remember the last eighteen months of her life.
Colin flies to be by Penelope's side to help her during her recovery. He hasn't seen or spoken to her in over a year since they had a painful falling out. She's seemingly happy to see him as she doesn't remember that they are no longer speaking, and Colin is too scared to tell her the truth.
Meanwhile, Penelope has managed to heal years of trauma between herself and her mother, finally reconciling a challenging relationship into one of a truly loving mother and daughter. However, she remembers none of it and wants nothing to do with Portia, leaving her heartbroken.
As Penelope recovers with Colin's help, the two manage to form an even stronger bond, making it more difficult for him to tell her the truth, while she struggles to heal and maybe even get her memories back.
