It wasn’t supposed to be like this. It was never supposed to be like this and Natasha was certain that there was no way that it could end well. Someone was always going to get hurt and with the way her story tended to play out, it wouldn’t be her. Even if it really should be. Even if she set herself up for it, in the end, it wouldn’t be her. Natasha tended to be the one doing the hurting, if only to avoid it herself.
