Summary
A renowned soldier raised under the highest status in the cluster is disgraced by the very system that had lifted him up. For him, the price of freedom is steep. Not because it is materially unattainable, but because he's just a major asshole. Sent on an unexpected resource-scouting assignment, he is given an opportunity to recover his relative autonomy by basically just not being a mean-spirited prick.
Will he redeem himself by showing some basic human decency towards his two perfectly kind associates? Or will he let himself fester in permanent time-out because acting out is basically his whole personality at this point?

In the 2030s, the United States of America was split apart along its seams by a series of natural disasters, political breakdowns, and economic collapses known collectively as the Polycrisis. While the major urban regions quickly re-emerged as new independent nations, the sparsely-populated interior fell into the hands of 'manor-lords' - small-business tyrants, self-proclaimed warlords, corporate satrapies, and freaky sex cults that answer to no central authority.
The year is now 206X, and the world is no longer ending. There was a global socialist revolution, but it was pretty mid, and it was thoroughly co-opted by the Global Logistics Network, a massive horizontal monopoly of resource extraction and shipping industries and the new unquestionable world power. The supposedly-beloved vtuber Sunny Roosevelt is trying to stitch the former US back together as president of the newly-formed American League, but she'll have to wrangle with handsome generals, academic neo-occultists, and wannabe masterminds, all wrestling with the same question: is America really worth saving?
