Damen did not resent that Laurent needed his time. Damen, of course, would take a knife to the gut before he left Laurent alone after any sort of bedplay where he was giving the orders, but that was Laurent. Damen had done this sort of thing before, and was accustomed to it, and did not need coddling, in any case, until or unless Laurent wanted to give it. So Damen was going to stay still, and count, and not be foolish.

They didn’t talk about it.
They should have, really. That was what all the websites said, when Damen managed to distill sometimes i pull my boss’s hair during our weekly fuck sessions and he seems to like it into something resembling a google search. They should have sat down, talked it out, written out a list and checked the boxes. It wasn’t as if they knew what they were doing. Damen’s pre-Laurent kink experience started with drunkenly watching 50 Shades of Gray with Nikandros and ended with some light bondage and an ice cube (not with Nikandros), and while Laurent’s face and body could have probably fucked their way through the whole building by now, the personality attached seemed more likely to freeze off any appendage that got close.
Damen’s… appendage reminded him that Laurent was actually quite warm, on the inside–

The floors hadn’t creaked, at least not more than they usually did in the night. None of the neighbors beneath him had shouted or dropped anything. When he blinked his eyes open, there was a faint glow from the brazier, a little slice of moon coming through the window. And then a shadow between them, and then the shadow was coming closer–
“Don’t scream,” it said. Alec opened his mouth to disobey and found a hand clamped over it. He inhaled through his nose, thrashing in the narrow bed, and smelled– something familiar, cigar smoke and– “Jerry?” he said incredulously, getting his mouth free. His body relaxed before his mind could interfere. Jerry wouldn’t hurt him.
Jerry punched him in the gut.

The first thing Izzy realizes is he looks absolutely fucking furious — which yeah, alright, fair enough. He’s got shorter ginger hair. A beard like Izzy’s but kept neater. Earrings like Izzy’s but worn simpler. Bleeding like Izzy but, well, maybe a bit less.
And he’s handsome.
Izzy realizes it suddenly and slowly somehow all at once. Bit like a bloody painting even. The kind you saw up on walls in rich folk's houses. Only, well, no painting had eyes like that, did it? You’d have to be mad to keep a painting with eyes like that in your home. They were bright and clear and looked — honest-to-fucking-Christ — ready to set the whole damned world on fire.
Izzy’s terrible, horrible, no good, very bad night takes an interesting turn thanks to a completely different sort of pirate captain.

"Hey." Ed reaches across because it's the only thing that feels right. He grasps Stede's wrist and smoothes the pad of his thumb across his knuckles. Stede stops fiddling with his ring and looks up at him, wide-eyed. "This isn't Captain shit. This is God shit. Are you God?"
The room is blank with silence.
Gently, Ed repeats, "Are you God, Stede?"
Stede's voice is thin and high when he answers, "I'm not God."
"And is God here, in this room?"
Comically, Stede looks around like he might find God perched on the edge of his desk, or pulling books from his shelves to examine the spines.
"He's not," Stede concedes.
"That's right, mate. Stupid bugger doesn't associate himself with pirates."
Or: The Revenge has been becalmed for six days. Ed has bigger things to worry about, like sharks and being in love.
