“MJ?” Peter Parker asks, dressed in a suit that doesn’t fit him at all– MJ letting out a sharp laugh as she makes a beeline towards him.
“Peter Parker?” She asks in return, the assistant who had been tugging her along shooting an alarmed look over her shoulder– no doubt signaling to help keep her in line.
She needs to, she knows she has places to go and people to talk to.
Peter Parker just immediately became one of them.

Tony can’t help it and he smiles to himself, glancing up at Peter again. He’s staring at the window and raising his eyebrows like he thinks he’s looking at somebody—and sure, he is, but not the person he thinks.
“He’s hilarious,” Tony says, continuing to search for some kind of switch or latch to get the panel working again. Trying to stop getting distracted.
“Yeah,” Rhodey says. “That’s the word for it.”
“You’re not making fun of him,” Tony says, sliding his hands along the wall. “I hope that’s not what I’m hearing.”

The idea of actually moving isn’t the difficult part. Peter isn’t like Ned or MJ, who have grown up in the same houses all their lives. Peter, Ben, and May had moved twice since he came to live with them, so he has never attached too many memories to the spaces he’s left behind. Home is where the heart is, and all that. Peter would have the three of them live in the smallest studio Queens has to offer if it meant getting Aunt May back. Stuff doesn’t matter.

Peter doesn't answer. Around the lump in his throat, he can't. He sets his jaw, but a hot tear rolls down his cheek anyway, followed by another, and another.
"I'm not crazy," he whispers.
"Of course not, you're simply unwell."

When Peter finds himself in an unfamiliar place, with no memory of how he came to be there, they tell him he has relapsed. They tell him Spider-man is just a character he invented to cope with trauma, that everything that has happened to him over the last two years is a figment of his imagination.
But Peter knows the truth.

Tony sits back, and his attention is back on Peter now, and he’s giving him that same look he’s been sending his way for days. “Did you sleep in class? In History? Because May and I can teach you history just fine. We’ve got books. And brains. And memories.”
Peter snorts, and feels a little sad at the same time. “Nah,” he says, scooting down in his seat. “I didn’t sleep.”
Tony hums and Peter can hear the anxiety in it, no matter how he tries to mask it.
“It’s fine,” Peter says again, chewing on the inside of his cheek. That’s gonna be a new mantra, apparently, because he keeps saying it without even meaning to. Tony gives him a long look, and finally starts driving out of there. Peter stares at him, and every blink is like the flick of a flame against his skin. Why does not sleeping hurt? He should just pass out, at this rate. That’s how these things should work.
