“No,” Billy says, sharp, snapping his head back to look at Steve. “I mean,” he says softer. “I haven’t gone like, this far with anyone, dude or chick… But like, whatever, it’s no big deal, let’s just—” And then he’s surging up and kissing Steve again, grinding his hips back up as if he didn’t just say all of that.
Steve’s kinda dumb over him, though, so he can’t help but kiss him back for a second, but then it’s clicking together. The unopened box of condoms. The candles. Billy’s blue eyes vast and full of wonder.
It’s not like Steve didn’t already consider all of this special, but like, this is really special. Billy wants this to be special.

“Where do you live?” Billy asks.
“Uh, Loch Nora,” Steve says. “On the East End.”
Billy considers making Steve put his address in his phone, but he’s also thinking about the prospect of getting lost with Steve, spending more time with Steve.
Unfortunately, Steve is well-acquainted with his shitty, ugly hometown and knows exactly how to get home. Every time Billy opens his mouth to start up a conversation, Steve says “right” or “left” or “sharp left, right there, yeah.” And pretty soon they’re pulling into Steve’s driveway, and Billy hasn’t gotten to talk to him at all, really.
Steve’s house looms dark and massive ahead of them. Billy looks over at Steve, expecting him to get out of the car, but Steve just kind of sits there, staring.
“Man, uh,” Steve says. “I know this is annoying but, uh. I don’t really want to go inside yet.”

There’s clearly, clearly something going on between them, Steve gets all cute and annoyed before he does whatever Billy wants him to, before he lets Billy rope him into all sorts of shit, lets him push and play and fuck with him just for the fun of it. Steve likes it. Gets all stupid and happy and bitches about it because he can tell Billy likes it when he bitches about it but does it anyway, maybe. At least, Billy’s pretty sure that’s why.
He wants to wreck him, honestly. Wants to have him. Wants to fuck him up and touch him for real and suck on his fucking earlobe in public. Wants to cover his pretty throat in bite marks.

Billy licks his lower lip into his mouth. It pops out glistening. "Fully aware." He slides his tongue between the edges of his teeth and looks Steve up and down critically. "What'd you do, mug a clown?"
"You've found me out, Hargrove. I'm going off to join the circus."
Billy snorts and then looks like he hadn't meant to. Like he wanted to pretend he doesn't think Steve's funny, but couldn't help himself in the end. Looks caught out. Steve feels that way, too, lately.

A few short weeks ago, Steve would never have guessed in a million years that he would find himself here, watching Billy Hargrove fight back the urge to come just because Steve’s inside him. The thought would have been ludicrous; the idea of Billy in Steve’s bed absurd. And yet here they are, Billy pretending that he’s on a date with some girl while parking a few blocks down from Steve’s house. When Steve’s parents are home, he sneaks in through the window, but tonight, he'd used the front door.
