Izuku originally had resolved to put this issue behind him, but that all changed yesterday, when the second half of the year’s hero ranks were announced, and Izuku was at four while Kacchan was at five. Izuku hid his face in Kacchan’s shoulder and cried, both out of happiness and accomplishment for himself, and out of confusion and frustration for Kacchan.
Izuku can’t ignore it anymore. Not with such an incredible jump in rankings after only six months. Not when the only thing that changed was Izuku coming back onto the scene.

Despite his fever, just being around Kacchan is enough to recharge him a bit. Izuku loves him like nothing else. Maybe he wasn’t able to spoil Kacchan for his birthday the way he wanted to, but at least he learned something new and important about Kacchan, and now he feels that much closer to his boyfriend. They’ll make this work; there’s plenty of other ways Izuku can show Kacchan how much he loves him.

Katsuki spent all night making him chocolates. He’s realized that if he wants Izuku to understand what he’s trying to do here, he’s gotta make it as blatantly obvious and romantic as possible.
He doesn’t want to do any big grand gestures, because he’s pretty sure Izuku would hate that. What he does want to do is make a nice batch of chocolates, wrapped up in a nice pink box, with a clear romantic message written on the top.
And then, all he has to do is bring the box to Izuku and very clearly confess to him.
