Summary
The funeral is… quiet. It’s a dreary affair, culminating not in a casket lowered to the ground but in a name etched into lifeless stone.
Uchiha Obito.
Few people come, in the end, most of them those who remembered Obito from the academy and felt bad, or who came to reckon in horrified whispers with the idea that someone could die so young.
Dying is a distant thing, for their former classmates. Ridiculous and strange, something only the adults do. They’ve been at war their whole lives, and it is Uchiha Obito’s death that shatters that illusion of safety.
Others come to gawk. Uchiha with little relation to him come to frown and tut, to say that well, it really is a shame, and that’s what happens when you send the talentless on important missions.
Kakashi wants to feel angry, to scream and shout and hit. He mostly just feels numb.

Summary
Obito can’t hear anything beyond the cave crumbling around them, thousands of tons of rock cascading down and crushing everything it can. Can’t see beyond the dust in the air, the vibrations of the world around him. Couldn’t, anyway, because he can barely keep his eyes open.
“It’s going to be okay,” he whispers into Kakashi’s hair. He knows Kakashi won’t hear him. Wouldn’t, even if he were conscious. That’s okay; the words are as much for him as they’re for Kakashi.
He presses himself closer, focuses on the warmth of Kakashi as the world fades in and out, as every bit of remaining light is snuffed and he can feel debris falling on every side of them, huge and heavy and deadly, if they’re hit. He can’t feel Kakashi’s heart beat past the world falling in on itself, but he tells himself it’s there, tells himself that Kakashi’s not dead.

Summary
Obito Uchiha has formed an unfortunate acquaintanceship with retrograde amnesia. Sakura Haruno, despite being the most socially aware child in her genin team, is like her two peers in being still largely friendless, and in dire need of a confidante.
While Sakura might drool over a chance to unravel an amnesiacs’ mysterious origins, and reignite some past relationships along the way - it’s chock full of romantic potential - she's got the slight issue of being twelve, and therefore distractable. There is nonsense happening in her team and Sakura is convinced she has the answers.
As Obito tries to jog his memory without accidentally killing internationally reknowned war heroes in a fit of rage, Sakura must learn that there are some things in life that should be left well enough alone. The author of course is not referring to Obito’s amnesia - he needs all the help he can get - but instead to a certain boy’s love for another certain boy, and that certain boy’s love for her.

Summary
“Our Light,” his father says, solemn and severe even as he sits across from him with a slouched posture. The shogi pieces loudly echo in lieu of Shikamaru’s silence. “It can be anything. An object, a hobby, a place, a person.”
Shikamaru blinks, slow and steady. Nervous. He peers up at his father and tries not to be perturbed when the man doesn’t move any.
Tsk. There goes his poorly timed manipulation.
The older man ignores his antics to annoyingly place another white shogi piece, saying, “You find your Light, and you don’t let it go.” The distinct clack is made deliberately loud enough that Shikamaru feels obligated to raise his head.
Their eyes predictably meet, something intensely unreadable in his father’s gaze. The man never gives anything away though, so the lack of a find is not unexpected. Still.
Troublesome.
“Shikamaru.” His father calls, drawing back his attention to the topic at hand. “You don’t let it go, understand?”
Uhm, no.
Shikamaru nods anyway, “Yeah.” Because if there was one wise thing he’d learnt from his mother — it was that you didn’t let Shikaku Nara have his suspicions.
