"It would be like slowly removing physical properties from our world, which explains the fragmentation. The less important properties go first, but eventually gravity and magnetism, things we rely on in everyday life, begin to unravel. Luckily, the Core acts as a fail-safe. I think that Lily is trying to help compensate for the difficulty you're facing, Sebastian, but subconsciously. That's why, well, you know."
Sebastian looks at Stefano and takes a sip of coffee to clear his head. The artist has an eyebrow raised.
"That explanation is quite..." Stefano grins deviously. "...obscure."
Sebastian spits out the coffee. In the midst of trying not to choke he is vulnerable and the artist steals the mug from him and finishes the liquid off himself.
Hoffman just stares. -

In today's world, the Sybil System is everyone's conscience: by looking at data (everything from Facebook posts to security cameras) this AI can determine what people are criminals before they can do wrong. Some criminals, though, are dangerous enough to outrun her for a time - those criminals, when caught, are put to use instead of put down. After all, what better way to hunt down monsters than with the better monsters?
Enter Q. He's not dangerous - at least to the common eye - and he's perfect for the job of Quartermaster for all of these 'better monsters.' But he's got an agenda, and he's not the only one...

They've been together a long time, through many hardships. What began as fascination towards Altair's strange interactions with a kitten has blossomed into so much more. For the first time in a while nothing directly threatens the Order and they can peacefully try to grow themselves into better now that Abbas is dead. The only pressing matter now is the next meeting of the Dai and the fact that their next Dai will be a woman. As if Malik didn't have enough to worry about along with juggling his relationship with Altair and their different physical needs and wants and basically running the Order.

In another world, Malik would return one-armed and brotherless to Masyaf and meet Altaïr who was alive and whole and he would curse him with all his being. He would become the Rafiq of Jerusalem and Altaïr - disgraced - would journey to reclaim his glory. And Altaïr-and-Malik would rise above the lies and half-truths to become the Grand Master-and-Dai and rule their Order with wisdom and compassion.
But this is not that world.
