In the wake of a particularly harrowing nightmare, Wriothesley is wracked with an anxiety that leads to himself questioning his own value and worthiness of being by Neuvillette’s side. They have a deep, meaningful conversation about how much they mean to each other, leading them to alighting their passion fiercer than ever.

Summary
“I’ve heard you hold ceremonies,” Varka starts. He lets go of Flins’s hand and tucks his own into pockets, to warm them. “When exchanging names with a mortal, you partake in rituals, if it is of a bargain between nations. I will withhold my name until then.”
“You know our history well.” Flins seems surprised. Amused, yes, and also intrigued. “Your pockets are laced with dried foxgloves, cedar and sage. I wonder who was made privy to that knowledge. It’s an ancient summoning. I haven’t caught this scent in centuries.”
“The God of Winds,” Varka is quick to reply. “They were privy to it, but I was not. I was told it would grant me safe passage to your Realm.”
- Dragonkind is ailing, and Varka is sent on a mission to Snezhnaya, as a bargaining chip for the Winter Court’s Fae Folk in hopes of finding a solution to the Eternal Night’s corruption. As dragons and mortals battle with the coming of a New World, Varka finds himself taken in by a strange Fae, and led into a realm of trickery, where fealty sworn to the Favonius Ordo will be tested.

“Nice club,” Wriothesley said as he slid onto the bar stool beside him, leaning one elbow on the counter. “I like the energy of the place.”
Slowly, the man’s gaze slid over to take him in, and as he turned, Wriothesley could see that Monsieur Neuvillette’s eyes were a striking lilac color, the pupils slit and white. Wriothesley did his honest best not to fidget or let his scent shift too much to one of sudden desire-tinged-anxiety as Neuvillette closed his book.
