Summary
In-ho is a homicide detective, and also a serial killer who doesn't want to be figured out by some journalist with a silly smile and a lack of shame. Gi-hun isn't very good at his job, but he's dedicated, and ultimately turns out to be an interesting person. In-ho finds himself curious about Gi-hun, and may be starting to see him as more than just another victim for his table.
Gi-hun just wants to help people. In a way he can.

Jun-hee is fast asleep, wrapped up in a tight blanket. In-ho looks startled when he asks him such a simple, yet profound, question. He sets down his book on the nightstand table and gazes at him with those eyes that haunt his dreams.
“I couldn’t bear to watch you die,” he explains.
