Summary
Your job was to tell tales of her victory, recite prose in melody when she returned from war and met with emissaries, and regale a banquet crowd with sagas of her exploits. You'd been trained for this since your youth, dutifully studying the gángan and honing your voice to carry each melodic tone of praise without fault. And through your talents, you found yourself in the service of the Medardas.
It wasn't hard to sing General Ambessa Medarda's praises. Arrayed in armor that struck fear in her enemies' hearts but inspired loyalty and devotion to all allied to her, she commanded her troops the same way she charmed ballrooms. So your praise names for her sang of this. Àdìgún and Àdùbí. The perfect one, the one competed over. Ambessa, the lioness, who finished wars with one lash of her claws.
The flowery titles and praise said what everyone knew. The general was a woman to be revered and feared. What they didn't know were the praises you sang to her when no audience was present to hear. Àlàkẹ́, Àpèkẹ́, Àdùnní. Meant to be pampered, for her life was hard. Called to be cherished, she was deserving. Sweet to have, and as far as you knew, no one had tasted sweeter.

"Think I'd miss the chance to put you on your ass again?"
Ran rested their full weight on the doorpost, crossing their arms over their small breasts. Their open and eager smile shifted, turning predatory. "What makes you so sure you're comin' out on top?"
The pitfighter's heart thudded in their throat, and her own large eyes widened before they narrowed at Ran. Their confidence was cute, hot even. She wanted to pin them to the wall right there over it. But she wasn't here solely on pleasure. She was here to make amends. "We both know I ain't gettin' bent over in front of all our lil' friends."
"Do we now? You're confident, kid, I'll give ya that." Ran shoved off the door frame, leaning into Bruise and tilting their head, still smiling as their one eye gleamed. "But I been waitin' for this."
Then they pulled back, walking past her to help set up in the living room. They called over their shoulder just before turning the corner. "Gimme a good fight, would ya?"

Summary
The life of a Councilor had never been an easy one. Mel had appearances to maintain, and was always striving for more. To measure up to Medarda standards would take a lifetime of nothing but success. The pressure was immense, and sometimes she just needed a bit of relief. The kind of relief that couldn't come from coy companions in the City of Progress. She had one very particular person she called upon when she had reached the point of wanting to climb her own walls out of frustration and stress. She had met them during an illicit meeting years earlier and hadn't been able to resist seeing them again. And again. Maybe this would be the last time.

Mel's life is stressful as all hell and she needs regular visits from Ran, her emotional support munch, or she'll lose it. They are very happy to serve such a gorgeous Femme as often as needed.
