It was like a bar set against the furthest wall, surrounded by hanging plants and covered in jars. When he returned, he was holding the stem of something. The small pine shook in his grasp, and his voice was quick. “We’ve needed more, uh, of— of this!”
Craig took the herb gently from the man’s hand, and though his mind called to inspect it, he couldn’t look away from the ocean of the botanist’s eyes.
He’d take any excuse to come back, Craig realized slowly, as his mouth sounded out: “Sure thing.”

It was true, that Kaoru looked particularly worse for wear though. His usually at least partially neat hair was frazzled and the ponytail was more half-assed than usual, strands falling loosely and looping in on themselves, further tangling into the yellow tie atop Kaoru's head.
Kojiro wasn't listening to Kaoru and instead spoke a few words, against his better judgement. "Want me to fix it for you?"
OR: One of those 5 times fics but its probably going to be more than 5 times and also far longer where I explore all the different times Kaoru let Kojiro touch his hair, for better or worse.

“That one?” The course title - Gender, Sexuality, and Media - doesn’t track with your idea of Dave’s brother at all. “Why?”
“He’s doing a sociology Master's.”
“No, I know that,” you say. “I just didn’t think sociology was, like-” You pause. “I didn’t know he was doing gender and sexuality stuff.”
