Shortly after the first rugby game of the season, Ymir confesses her love to Historia in the girl’s locker room.
“Go out with me,” she tells her, not even sparing a glance at their audience. “Marry me.”
Ymir is the only girl on the rugby team. Historia is the captain of the cheerleaders. They’re best friends, roommates, even more compatible than soulmates. They make a perfect movie couple except for a tiny, insignificant detail.
“I’m not gay,” says Historia.
---Or, rumors fly about Ymir and Historia at school, and they're all true except Historia will never admit it. Either that, or Historia is the biggest procrastinator in the history of all procrastinators.

Summary
Ymir is pretty sure junior high was invented to torture her specifically. Annoying boys and needlessly complicated locker combinations are a major inconvenience, and so is the fact that she's suddenly, inexplicably drawn to nearly all her female peers for absolutely no reason in particular.
Historia thinks that after the worst year of her life, things are finally taking a turn for the better. Her classmates like her, her mom is acknowledging her existence, and her lipgloss collection is unmatched. It's a lot, but she thinks she's handling it all rather well for a girl who's only a few inches over four feet.
Middle school is tough, but they've made it this far, right?

Summary
New schools suck. Adjusting to unfamiliar surroundings, catching up with new curriculum, and learning the hard way which teachers will kick your ass for breathing is something Ymir has done more times than she can count, and it never sucks any less.
Paradis High is no exception, but she takes comfort in knowing that this is the final semester before she can move to college and finally have some stability in her life. All she wants is to get through the year without trouble, graduate, and be on her merry fucking way.
Unfortunately for her, the school's resident popular girl and megabitch with the pretty eyes and disturbingly blank stare isn't going to make it easy.

Historia waits quietly for Ymir to return to the present. The brunette opens her eyes and grins. She leans forward and raises her arm towards Historia, joint pinched between her fingers.
Historia swallows, eyes darting between the offering and Ymir’s smile.
