Summary

In 1974, Dr. Rhoda Bernhardt discovered wartime correspondence between Captain Steve Rogers and Sergeant James Barnes.
In February of 1945, Bucky and Rebecca Barnes were captured by HYDRA. In March of 1945, Captain Steve Rogers took a nosedive into the Arctic.
Thirty years later, the White Wolves are the two deadliest assassins on the planet. It doesn’t make Steve and Peggy love them any less.

“I told you I loved you and you walked out the fuckin’ door, Buck. What was that supposed to mean?” Steve asked. Bucky was staring at his shoes again now, looking at the dents and creases Steve had pressed into them the day before.
“I was being a dick,” Bucky admitted, voice so low you could almost miss it.
“Yeah, understatement of the goddamn century,” Steve scoffed.
“I just-- I couldn’t say it, alright?” Bucky admitted, tearing his eyes off his shoes and meeting Steve’s. It looked like he was going to cry, which scared the living daylights out of Steve-- Bucky didn’t cry, he just didn’t.
