In another multiverse, Bruce Wayne is testing multiversal travel technology in the right place and time, and Duke gets pulled into a multiverse that hasn’t been ravaged by Barbatos. Upon realizing the multiversal barrier breach appears to be a one-time fluke, Duke is stuck there. And with no mission, he has time to heal.

Tim's shoulders sank a little. Duke could tell he really wasn't sure what to do at all. After a moment, Tim simply wraps an arm around Duke's shoulders, pulling him in for a hug. The fact that he was trying to soothe him at all only made Duke cry more. In response, Tim awkwardly patted Duke's back- making him laugh a little through the tears.
What a blessing to have a family such as this, even when his first family had fallen apart.
