Der Gedanke, sich zur Ruhe zu setzen, umringt von ihrer eigenen Familie, der könnte Lena eigentlich nicht ferner sein. Doch an Abenden wie diesen, mit Johanna hier am Rheinufer, wenn Lena damit überschwemmt wird, wie es auch hätte sein können - da kann sie einfach nicht verhindern, dass sich zwei, drei dieser Zweifel durch ihre Fassade beißen.

Der Boden der Disco bebt, die Luft steht, die Meute lebt. Und mittendrin finden sich diese zwei Frauen, die einander eigentlich völlig fremd sind und sich trotzdem irgendwie verbunden fühlen: Lena und Johanna sind gekommen, um loszulassen, aber sie bleiben, um sich festzuhalten.

Vielleicht hat Johanna ihre Kollegin tatsächlich für immer verloren, weil sie Lena nicht schnell genug aufhalten konnte. Vielleicht hat Lena tatsächlich zu viel Blut verloren, als dass diese OP sie noch retten könnte. Dabei hat Johanna in ihrem ganzen Leben noch nie so fest zugedrückt wie vorhin auf dem Dach dieser verdammten, verwaisten Fabrikhalle mitten im Nirgendwo.

Zwischen hochgelobten Burgtürmen und heruntergekommenen Gassen, zwischen veredelten Ballkleidern und elendem Hungerleiden, zwischen einer wohlbehüteten Johanna und einer wildgewachsenen Lena - da entspinnt sich etwas, was nicht sein darf.
Aber kann das in dieser Welt bestehen, selbst wenn blutige Klingen daran entlangwetzen, unbescholtene Burschen sich ihr Grinsen daran ausbeißen oder auch nichts weiter daran nagt als der Zahn der Zeit?

Summary
The apocalypse Au nobody asked for. Geralt finds himself all alone in a new world, with his neighbours abandoned and strangely smart dog, surrounded by the Infected, and with a new infection of his own. He finds a new family on his travels, and slowly discovers his purpose in this world. To kill the monsters and protect his own, even if that comes at some cost.
This is unnecessarily long, as I am bored in lockdown. Jaskier comes in soon, this is gonna take some brain to get all of my ideas into one story but we will see how it goes!

Jaskier gets off the doorframe and steps into the hallway. The smell of sandalwood and sex is abruptly more intense, but it's not strictly unpleasant.
"How indelicate of you," Jaskier says. "Though since you already think so, I'm inclined to let you take a few liberties."
Geralt is supposed to assassinate a bard. He gets Involved instead.

Summary
The Continent is drowning in havoc since the Nilfgaardian Empire started the war with the Northern Kingdoms, killing witchers, sorceresses, elves, and everyone who stands against their violent politics. Geralt is one of the few witchers who managed to survive the massacre; he’s forced to hide in the forest from the inquisition until a bloodied stranger appears on the threshold of his shack. He’s got a lute and a message for him.
Now, with the accompaniment of his new travel companion and with the odd help of some of his old acquaintances, Geralt has to take a risk and protect the Surprise Child and find the most experienced witcher to try and stop the war.
It’s gonna be a long way, full of blood, monsters, and losses.
And the witchers never retire.
