“Look,” Dean grits, pinching at the bridge of his nose, “You’ve got a body. Your body.” (Castiel, not long ago: “Jimmy…his soul was not returned to me.”) “You’re gonna damn well learn how to use it.” The hunter reaches under the seat to jerk at the lever, sliding back the whole of the front bench and badly startling Castiel with the unexpected jolt of movement. “And, hate to break it to you, but this town’s really not that big. You just got yourself kicked out of the only joint that’s got the professionals at work.”
Dean twists to lean against the car door, pulling up a leg to lay across the seat. The moment stretches, silent and tense.
“I ain’t gonna fuck you,” he says, voice gruff, “but I’ll talk you through it.”

He jerks his head to where he feels the slight pressure weighing down the other side of the mattress, quickly pulling his brown leather jacket over his dick.
The pointed tips of Cas’ spiky dark hair shine in the pale moonlight peeking through the cheap plastic blinds. His face is dark.
“Hello, Dean. What were you dreaming about?”

Summary
Brittle and battle-worn, Cas looks at him over coffee one morning and says, "I need to go," and Dean instantly knows that he's not coming back.
He's not really sure how he knows it, but he does. It settles into the pit of his stomach, curling hot and tight like something he instinctively wants to tear out with his bare hands. He takes a breath, and it gets stuck in his throat, hitching there. It hurts, hurts, hurts when he finally exhales.
"Yeah," Dean says, "of course you do," and he nods jerkily as he looks down at his phone. He doesn't say goodbye. He doesn't look up from the screen when Cas gets up and leaves the room. He doesn't finish his coffee, or move for a long time.
By nightfall, Cas is gone.

Afterwards, they pile back into the car in silence. As Mary starts up the engine, in the backseat Castiel stares at Dean with accusation in his eyes. He swallows the lump in his throat and angles himself away from Cas, ashamed.
Castiel won’t have that. He reaches, peels Dean’s trembling fingers away from where they’re clutching his leg and laces their fingers together again with a grip that’s almost violent, like he’s holding onto a fraying rope that’s the only thing keeping him from falling from a cliff into a stormy ocean. He only lets it go when the car stops.

"Perhaps what one does with peace is...whatever they want."
"What if I don't even know what that is?" Dean grumbles, arching an eyebrow in challenge. "'Cause I know damn well you don't just mean good food and a good bed and time in Baby, not simple wants like that. You mean—ya know, the big things, the wants we didn't get to have before."
"Yes," Cas agrees. "If you're not sure, figure it out."
"Easier said than done."
