Dean Winchester's life is no fairy tale. Forced to give up his dream of a degree in political science to work in the family business, he's relegated to janitorial duties at a Pirate Pete's burger joint by his absent father's business partner Azazel and his two unbearable sons. But a newly elected president in nationwide search of a political advisor and a mysterious stranger who stumbles into Pirate Pete's late one evening have Dean exploring new possibilities for both his professional and personal future.
Cas Milton is the newest and most reluctant US President - feeling shackled by his responsibilities, he sends out a nationwide call for an advisor to help ease his professional burdens. His hunger for escape - and burgers - leads Cas to a Pirate Pete's in Lawrenceville, Kansas, where he meets an enigmatic janitor who's unaware of his real identity. Upon hearing Dean's aspirations for his future, Cas encourages him to chase his dreams. He returns to his office to find those dreams include an application to the very role he's looking to fill, making a relationship between them impossible.

Strip clubs aren't the only business that runs on daddy issues. But Dean and Cas are both harboring secrets that threaten the precarious joy they've managed to find, and external forces in Port Charles may threaten any chance they have at both future and freedom. Summary
Dean's never doubted that leaving for Stanford with Sam was the right decision, but bartending and taking odd jobs while his brother makes his way through college leaves little room for much else.
Then - a man spontaneously combusts in a Vegas diner, and it gives Dean the perfect excuse to get back in the game (and if he combines a little pleasure with business, well that's even better). He convinces Sam to hit the road.
Even better, the victim's last known whereabouts were the Heart Attack Grill, known for sexy servers in revealing nurse costumes who spank patrons that don't clean their plates. Dean's definitely on a winning streak, and Sam may not be far behind - their primary witness, a pretty waitress named Jess, only has eyes for the youngest Winchester.
But is Lady Luck favoring him when Dean meets a blue-eyed cook who seems to have some prowess with the spanking paddle and influence over the locals?
Suddenly, a milk run becomes the ride of Dean's life - and he finds that the hunt for mysterious evil somehow feels less dangerous than the feelings he can't seem to quash for Cas.
But hey - what happens in Vegas stays there...

After Cas’ expression remains blank, Lucius adds:
“I’ll break it down further. A bicycle has two wheels. Connected to each other. The third isn’t um, part of the rig.”
Cas goes quiet and blushes. “Oh. Of course. No.” He looks at Lucius with a mollified expression. “I can assure you that you are certainly not the third wheel. We - um, Dean and myself - we are not - a bicycle.”
“I see,” Lucius says, the tone of the two syllables indicating anything other than conviction. “So you’re what? Brothers?”
There’s a pause as Cas seems to reflect on this, and then he shakes his head slowly. “No - well, Dean’s said I’m like a brother to him before, I suppose.” He looks back over at Dean, eyes back in those squints of contemplation. “But I don’t think you meant that literally.”
Two pairs of eyes are boring into Dean’s face and he’s feeling like a cornered, cowering squirrel.
“Um. No, I - you’re not my actual brother, Cas. You know that.”
“So what did you mean,” Lucius says pointedly. “When you said he was like a brother?”
Bum knee or not, Dean’s going to clobber this blithering ship rat over the head.

Summary
Dean Winchester is a stressed-out, burned-out Manhattan attorney who has just been chosen to handle the biggest trial his firm has had in years. Struggling with not only the anxiety of his job, but also the end of his years-long relationship with Lisa Braeden, Dean finds himself in a New York City bar one night looking for any kind of release. That release ends up being a guy named Cas, who is all disheveled dark hair, blue eyes, and a Led Zeppelin t-shirt, and who takes Dean home with him to his apartment for what they both think is one night of mindless, drunken sex. But Dean soon learns that Cas is really Justice Castiel Novak, a reluctant judge who has been assigned to hear the same trial that Dean’s career is depending on. Both knowing that they could ruin their entire professional lives by carrying on a relationship, they continue to see each other in secret, which mostly involves Dean winding up in Cas’ bed. They learn, though, they have a lot more in common than they thought, both following in the footsteps of what their fathers wanted, and both scarred by tragic events in their pasts.
(The title comes from the legal term “Ex parte” which refers to improper contact between a judge and one party in a lawsuit).
