It wasn’t unusual for Joe to see Cherry eating with people at Sia la luce; sometimes he brought a client, sometimes he was the client being brought. Industry acquaintances, media people conducting interviews, hoity-toity calligraphy peers…whatever.
Joe was used to seeing Cherry eat with people in his restaurant.
What he wasn’t used to was seeing Cherry very obviously enjoying himself doing so.
Oh, sure—he had that stupid professional smile of his that managed to fool people (how, Joe still had no clue—it was so obviously fake!) but a genuine, spontaneous, eye-crinkling smile? Hell no. Those were saved for—

“Hey, I brought food—” Joe peeked through the door into the disaster zone that was Cherry’s workroom. “Whoa.”
“Kojiro?” Cherry looked up, glasses slightly askew, hair tie loose, and dark circles under his eyes. He frowned slightly in confusion. “What are you doing here?”
“I came to check on you,” Joe said slowly. “Are you okay?”
Cherry bristled, straightening to his full height. Scowling, he opened his mouth to say something scathing…then visibly deflated, shoulders sagging.
“Take off your shirt,” he sighed.
Or: Cherry's on the verge of a breakdown and needs a distraction. Luckily, Joe is more than happy to help.

Kojiro sighed yet again, smiling around his beer at the girl hanging on his arm, looking up at him hopefully. This was usually his thing. Parties, people, a bit of drinking, women. When he’d first started staying with Kaoru, nannying him during his recuperation, he couldn’t wait to get back to this lifestyle.
Maybe he was just out of practice.
Yeah, that had to be it.
The beer wasn’t going down fast enough, not tasting good tonight at all—though he had to admit that wasn’t the beer’s fault. Just like it wasn’t this girl’s fault—or the girl on his other side, very un-subtly pressing her boobs against his arm. No, the beer was perfectly…beery, the women perfectly attractive, the music perfectly too-loud, the atmosphere perfectly upbeat and sexy and cheery.
It was him.
His phone vibrated in his back pocket, startling him out of his thoughts and he frowned at the screen. The name was familiar—too familiar. But she’d certainly never called him before. He didn’t actually know she could.
Suddenly too many eyes were on him and he smiled sheepishly as he answered the call.
“Hey, Carla. What’s up, baby?”

Kojiro looked around the pristine greeting area of the studio. It was almost too fancy, too nice and he barely resisted the urge to check his directions for the hundredth time. Hell, the placard next to the door had said Sakurayashiki Studio so he couldn’t not have the right place.
“Please take a seat,” a pleasant woman’s voice told him through a speaker.
“O-okay,” Kojiro answered back, unsure whether she could hear him. “Thanks,” he added, just in case.
He couldn’t help but second-guess and feel a bit nervous. He’d never done anything like this before. But how hard could modeling be, really? He just had to stand there, right? At least that’s what Tadashi had told him when he convinced him to take the job.
Not that it took that much convincing once Tadashi told him the pay. Kojiro still wondered if that had been some sort of a mistake. Weren’t they supposed to be “starving artists”? How could anyone pay him that much to just…stand there?
Okay, stand there naked but he was still trying not to think too much about that part.
Kojiro needs money. Kaoru needs a muse.

With a stiff neck and a pounding headache, Kojiro Nanjo sputtered awake, choking on a rose petal he nearly inhaled.
Gagging and spitting, he groggily propped himself up on an elbow and looked around with bleary eyes. The room wasn’t his, but it was massive. So obviously the bed wasn’t his either, but it was also massive and stunk of roses due to the petals scattered liberally over the duvet. Kojiro rolled over onto his back and immediately regretted it; the room spun and he was too hot and why was he still fully dressed and where even was this—
A fresh wave of nausea washed over him as it all came rushing back.
The wedding.
Kojiro gets left at the altar. So he goes on his "honeymoon" by himself.

Not again.
Kaoru’s stomach clenched, not at the sight of the king on his throne but of the royal advisor standing just off to the side, holding a silken pillow upon which rested thick bracelets of gold, adorned with jewels.
But Kaoru knew better. These were not bangles, a princess’s jewelry.
They were cuffs.
For the second time in his life, Kaoru was being put in chains.
The palace in a panic at the barbarian king (and his army) on the other side of the city gates. Rumors say he's a giant, nasty brute of an alpha who demands the most beautiful omega princess in tribute from every land he conquers in exchange for sparing the lives of the citizens (and the heads of the royalty).
And it's just Kaoru's luck that he happens to be equal parts beautiful and disposable.

He’d seen it…before. They’d gotten ready for S together many times, he couldn’t not see it. But every time it just pissed him off even more.

Still trying to navigate the...ins and outs...of their new relationship, Kojiro is hesitant to outright ask for what he wants.

Which, okay, despite having no readily available memory of how, who, or why, this wasn’t an entirely unfamiliar feeling for him. He just had to slowly look and see who was sleeping so soundly and very nudely wrapped in his arms—

No, this was super, totally 100% unfamiliar.
“Mmm.” Kaoru stretched a little, curling himself even tighter around Kojiro who had no fucking clue what was going on. He hummed again, sighing contentedly as he nuzzled into the crook of Kojiro’s neck. “Morning, baby,” he murmured, lips brushing against Kojiro’s skin.
Baby? Was Kaoru talking to him?!
What. The fuck. Was going on?
Why was he naked and in bed with his best friend who not only acted like this was totally normal but just called him baby and was that Kaoru’s…Kaoru pressed against him down there?
Kojiro wakes up next to a Kaoru that actually likes him. Something is horribly wrong.

Kojiro leans towards Kaoru’s palm, chasing that warmth. Chasing, like he’s been doing what feels like all his life.
“I wouldn’t say this now if I really still felt that way for him, I swear to you. It wasn’t always you, but I think I want it to be, now, if you’ll allow it.”
