Summary
In the fall of 1953, Eugene sends an ad to the San Francisco Chronicle. It reads:
Professional single male, late 20s, located in Dogpatch. Clean, considerate & responsible, seeking similar. Pets O.K. Smoking O.K. First month + security up front. Contact Eugene for details. Serious enquiries only.
Eugene is freshly divorced and outgrowing the life he had painstakingly made for himself after returning from war. Merriell is grieving, aimless, roaming the length of the Pacific coast looking for a place to collect himself. The first time they speak, Eugene is suffering a late summer nosebleed. Merriell had just pawned his mother's earrings for first month's rent. He moves in the same day.
feat. splinters, workwear, payphone calls, cruising. the delicate hot-house flower that is merriell. eugene at his most neurotic. sea fog & starlings & improbably hot first time sex. the inherent insanity of falling for your landlord.

Summary
Paris in the rain smells like asphalt. It blankets the smells of garbage and waste. Here in the park it’s dark soil and dripping leaves. Lestat’s chin rises. The wound on his throat opens. Louis thinks of hothouse flowers, he thinks of red silk, his hands slip lower through the bloodsweat limning Lestat’s cheeks.

Summary
He finds himself stopped by Ed’s boot on his chest. The boy above him has a cold, curious gleam in his eye. His boots huge and hobnailed, marked above their soles by a tide of salt. Izzy grips first at the instep, but when the boot only grows heavier his hand finds the buckle, the backstay, the tongue. Feeling the bite of the nails. Feeling his breath go short. His spine straightening against the boards, skin coming up in a rash of goosepimples as Ed flattens him easily against the floor. Like an insect, a cigarette butt, shit under his shoe.

Summary
The nature of their relationship has always been steady ground to him — the rhythms of it are as familiar as those of the tide. Izzy looks, and Edward looks away.

Summary
Izzy, who has watched Ed through gunsmoke and sea spray and across the rolling deck of a half dozen ships, looks at him and thinks, it’s almost your time, isn’t it? He’s been around long enough to know. There are certain boys who shine so hard that their rise is inevitable. Ed is smart. Ed is beautiful. Ed is an open wound, looking for anything to plug it.

Summary
It's autumn, Year '32. "The Thirties." "The New." "The Disco Years." Whatever you want to call it, Revachol is in the midst of its post-Revolutionary boom--a deceptive era of comparative plenty that will, unbeknownst to its citizens, eventually fizzle and die. The Revachol Citizens Militia is rebranding, restructuring, and recruiting. As part of these efforts, Junior Officer Kim Kitsuragi embarks on a new juvenile delinquent mentor program that takes him beyond the Greater Revachol Industrial Harbor. He meets a young gym teacher named Harry Du Bois while on assignment in Couron. Against the fraught, shifting backdrop of Revachol West, their relationship develops into something neither of them expected.

Summary
“Come eat with me,” Eugene pleads, “Come eat with me, then come to bed with me, it’s cold sometimes in this apartment.”
Snafu doesn’t answer him, and Eugene eats alone on the sofa, staring blankly at the black-and-white tv his parents bought him for Christmas last year, thinking: heaven help me, he’s going to be the end of me. Heaven help me, I loved him.

Summary
Written for Sledgefu Week 2020 Day 2: Southern Gothic AU
The bayou feels ancient. Eugene’s breath is stolen by the absolute stillness of it all. The cypress and tupelo trees grow so thick that there’s not a ripple of a breeze in the air. The longer they move across the water, the more exhausted Eugene begins to feel. His head becomes cotton, all thick and light, in the heat of the bayou. He turns his head to the shore again, and he sucks in a short breath when he sees a man lurking in the trees. At first he wonders if it’s Merriell, and then he wonders if he’s going mad.

Summary
The first letter Eugene writes him is careful. No allusions made to the sand and the heat. Shelton would laugh his ass off if he did.
