The words took him back to another day, another hospital room where the man holding him had been too far away, fuzzy around the corners, so heartbreakingly beautiful, and not Shane’s.
“Could have been worse,” he murmured back, his voice painfully clawing its way out of his throat.

“Oh you’re Mila’s dad!” The woman looks delighted. “I’m Maddie’s mom. Jane.”
She holds her hand out, and Shane has to bite back a grin. He takes her hand.
“Shane,” he says, shaking it. “Nice to meet you.”

“Of course I did. What if the pup starts moving and you keep it from me as revenge for getting you pregnant?” Minho says dramatically, as if Seungmin wouldn’t shake him awake the moment the baby made the smallest of movements.
“Well, now that you mention it…” He jokes, as if he’s considering it. Minho pinches him on the arm, without any real force, as retaliation.
“Don’t you dare, Seungmin-ssi.”
Seungmin laughs, a sound that’s way too loud for the hour, but that he can’t help. He nuzzles Minho’s scent gland as a response, and relishes in the earthy scent his husband exudes. He grows sleepy soon after.
