After everything went down—they saved the world, cleared Eddie’s name, closed off access to the Upside Down for good—Steve and Eddie hold one another at arms length, both of them feeling out of sorts around the other. It’s easier to complain to friends than interrogate their feelings anyway. Dustin thinks they’re being dumb, Robin is sick of listening to Steve bitch about it all, Jeff feels the same about Eddie whining, so they come up with a plan to force Steve and Eddie to talk.
He’s trembling all over, more sweat in a sheen on his cheeks, and suddenly it all snaps into place for Steve: Eddie’s going into heat.

Night Valley was code word for hell. It was the one night of the year that caused both a celebration and a complete clusterfuck. Thanks to the wonderful, truly gracious alphas of Sigma Phi, the event, passed down through the years, continued well into their 83rd year. It was a night of cat and mouse, hunter and hunted, alpha and omega, all under dubious consent in the form of signatures, of course.
To Eddie Munson, the night meant pizza rolls and the LOTR trilogy. He’d managed to get out of the event for three years, moving in on his fourth year of college, going under the radar as a beta. Gland patches and scent blockers, courtesy of the local clinic, have been his saving grace, keeping the predators away from his actual status as an omega.
