Summary
Getting ready for the day seems to go by in a blur. It wouldn’t have been so bad if Helen hadn’t left her phone in Madeline’s room last night that had all of her alarms to go off precisely at 8:30am. She felt like she was in a rush the second she woke up, never once having time to fully process what was going on around her. It was the makeup chair, then it was hair but at the same time, her nails were being painted so she could barely get up, let alone use the bathroom without people freaking out.
It’s when she finally has a moment to herself to slip on her shoes does she realize what this moment is and what it’ll become. She was marrying Madeline, in spite of it all, in spite of being at each other’s throats when they met. Madeline, who at first impressions, seemed to be the most performative and self-obsessed person she’s ever encountered. She was loud, peppy, and took up the expanse of every room she walked into. And while those things still remain true to an extent, Helen did eventually get to see what was underneath all those layers of feigned confidence and boisterous personality.

Harry comes into the bedroom with the heart monitor strapped to his chest, the electrodes sticking uncomfortably to his skin. This is fucking annoying, of all things to bring to bed, but he promised Sarah that he would take every test seriously. Come to think of it, for a man who had a heart attack, he had to make quite a lot of promises to quite a lot of people. His wife, first of all, his doctor, and his friends. He moves slightly, to test the adhesive and sighs.
“Well, this is going to be a night.”OR
Following a heart attack, Harry has to wear a heart monitor to test it, Sarah has a sore back, things happen.
