Floor nine of the Sehanine Building at Rexxentrum Academy is where the school houses anyone they don't quite know what to do with. Anyone who marked down anything but "male" or "female" on their surveys, anyone who has a tumultuous past, anyone they might want to keep an eye on. Caleb and Molly start out a tenuous friendship as neighbors on floor nine, neither aware of the colorful dreams the other shares with them each night.
But it's probably just a coincidence that Caleb dreams of a purple haired, horned creature that looks a lot like Mollymauk. And that Molly dreams of a boy consumed by flames. Right?

Modern/90s AU widomauk drabble for a series of tiktoks that I'm doing. Tags will update as I write and make decisions. Character descriptions were deliberately vague so anyone can join on tiktok as human versions or canon compliant versions, but I've decided against it cause Molly and Jester need tails. But human versions are absolutely welcome on the tok tag.
POV will alternate between Caleb and Mollymauk. Please feel free to write the story from any of the other characters pov, I just wanna know about it so I can read it! If you make videos, I also wanna know so I can show some love.

Because even though by many metrics Caleb should have been a terrible choice to put in a beacon-machine, having never received one himself, and by many metrics Essek should have been a terrible choice to receive a beacon-machine, given his pointed refusal to being consecuted at the usual age of sixteen, they had scored so highly in aptitude with each other that now here they were: sun-blinded and eyes wide open as the ship finally docked, shuddering, in the City.
Essek is a newly-arrived ambassador in Rexxentrum, Beauregard is his assigned cultural liaison, and Caleb is the consecuted soul at the back of his mind. Empires and Dynasties do not serve: they consume.
