Summary
It’s strange, the way his mind so suddenly changed paths to focus on Steve rather than the pulsating anxiety, but it should be stranger. It’s as though this was some natural conclusion for him to come to, as though this was what his body was made for. Like there was a hole in the universe carved out specifically for Eddie to fit in, a role nice and easy for him to slip into, and all it was doing was waiting for him to find it.
With the peak of his panic attack behind him, a few lights in Eddie’s brain blink back on. Somewhere in the middle, somewhere he can’t reach without help, something tells him that this is big. That the way Steve is speaking to him, the effect it’s having on him, isn’t something he should ignore. And he doesn’t want to, is the thing. He wants to lean into it, wants to be wrapped up in its warm embrace where it’s secure and safe.
Or, the one where Eddie has an anxiety attack and learns a few things about himself.

‘Shit,’ Steve says, takes a single step back, swallows. ‘Eddie, I’m so sorry, fuck.’
Eddie can’t seem to look away, can’t bring his ethereal gaze back up where it belongs. Steve thinks he should run, he should flee. A tiny part of him knows Eddie will chase him. Eddie will catch him, outrun him easily.
It's more than a little fucked up how that thrills him.

Somehow Steve was still alive.
Drained, maybe a bit drunk still, but alive.
“Rooooobinnnnuhhhhhh,” he groaned, every syllable longer than the last.
“Don’t Robin me. You chose this, dingus. I told you to stop when you hit drink number six,” Robin sighed out next to him.
They’d been curled up in his bed since he got home at nearly four in the morning, her hand in his hair while he whined about the guy at the club abandoning him for someone hotter.
He hadn’t actually been abandoned. It was just closing time and the guy admitted he’d already stayed longer than he should have to keep dancing with Steve.
Allegedly, he had work in the morning.
Maybe he just hated Steve.
“Fuck, I didn’t even get his name,” Steve groaned again, covering his face with his hands.
