A bubble at the bottom of the ocean, his arms around her as she had cried for a future she’d never have: a city of marble and gold, a happy family, the boy she had lost to the other side of the war. He pushes the past few weeks out of his mind and remembers that this is Annabeth, his best friend. One of the people he trusts most in the world.
