Summary
Maybe it was the sight of the cuts and bruises, or perhaps it was the idea that had been in the back of Neil’s mind for months—the idea that could be reality now that his mother was out of the picture. Either way, the words were out of Neil’s mouth before he could process what it would mean: “Do you want to go?”
Andrew stared at him blankly, amber eyes shining in the moonlight as he gazed at Neil. “What?”
“Go?” he asked, this time more confidently. This was what Neil wanted—what he needed. “Leave. We could leave together, run away.” He stared into his friend’s eyes. He needed this—he wanted Andrew to go with him. “Run away with me.”

“What’s in the box, Drew?” he asked.
Andrew nodded toward the couch. “Sit down and I’ll show you.”
Neil shook his head, but laughed. He did as he was told, folding his hands and resting his chin on them as he looked at Andrew. He sat cross legged on the couch, waiting for the blond to reveal the secrets of the mystery box.
Andrew sat on the floor in front of him, and Neil saw that the box wasn’t sealed, just barely closed, with holes stabbed into the sides.
What— Then the box meowed at him.

Aaron sighed into his phone. “Because, Andrew. It’s four a.m., and I’m in a brand new apartment, being forced to stare at my ceiling as I question whether or not I’ll ever speak to my brother again, since we graduated and aren’t forced into proximity with each other every day. Hell, the only thing that I know we have in common is the fact that we both transitioned, and that’s not a lot, Andrew. I know absolutely nothing about my twin fucking brother, and I’m freaking out in the middle of the night about whether or not we’ll even see each other again.”
Andrew was silent over the phone. Aaron thought he’d hung up. Then, “Lucky Charms.”

Summary
His mother was dead. He didn’t have to run anymore. He could return to Hogwarts with a new slate and no vow to keep him in place. Sure, his father would probably eventually find him and torture him to death, but he could use this last year of school to make that death worth it.
Neil stared at the burning heap of metal in front of him. The smell of gasoline and burning flesh almost warmed him inside. His mother was dead, making the vow void.
He could go to school. He could talk to people. He could play quidditch.
It was immediately decided: He was going back to Hogwarts this year, and he was going to play quidditch even if it killed him.
