Summary
You knew her. You’d heard the stories. Joel and Ellie—“a crazy man traveling with a little girl” who managed to carve a trail of blood across the country, traveled far and wide through rain, snow, and dirt, and who saved Jackson more times than anyone in charge would like to admit. But the girl in front of you didn’t look like someone from a story, or even from Jackson. She looked too tired. Sad. Rough.
“Are you Ellie?”
“Used to be.”
⠀
⠀
⠀
Jackson’s still standing, but it doesn’t feel like anyone’s alive in it anymore. Joel is dead, Tommy is broken, Maria doesn’t speak much anymore, and Ellie? She left. You’ve been holding what’s left together with shaky hands and too many memories you don’t want to remember. Things you haven’t let yourself feel. Things you haven’t said out loud. But someone has to care. Someone has to try. If no one else will fight for what’s left—then it has to be you. If Jackson dies, then so does the last good thing he ever did.

Summary
“Y’ever think ’bout it?”
Arthur’s voice was low, almost lost in the breeze from the window. You’d glanced at him from where you sat, hat tipped forward just enough to cast his face in shadow. You could see the hard set of his jaw, way his fingers twitched restlessly against the table.
“Think about what?”
Arthur exhaled, slow and measured, like he wasn’t sure if he wanted to say anything at all.
“What comes after.”
“Do you mean dying, Arthur?”
He huffed out a quiet, humorless laugh. “I mean livin’.”

He was supposed to die. He was supposed to have died on that mountain. Found on the brink of death by a girl with her own story, he is forced to reckon with the truth—he was still alive, and the world wasn’t done with him. A story of southern survival and second chances—God You’re Alive But the Whole Place Is Quiet reimagines Arthur’s fate in a world where death wasn’t his end, but his true beginning.

Summary
As you reached the balcony, a bolt of lightning illuminated the sky, painting the world in a fleeting, eerie glow. And that’s when you saw them—a hooded figure, hunched over, their arms tense at their sides, fists clenched.
Your breath hitched.
You gripped the glass door, hesitating. The rational thing would be to run, to call someone, do something. But your body had other plans. Slowly, you slid the door open.
The figure turned.
Sharp, stormy gray eyes locked onto yours. Even in the dim light, you could make out the scowl tightening their face. Your flashlight slipped from my grip, clattering onto the floor.
"Who the hell are you?"

Vi is a hero—strong, fearless, and admired by many. But even heroes need a place to fall. When she shows up on your balcony in the middle of a thunderstorm, bruised from a fight she barely lost, you don’t hesitate to take her in. After all, you’ve always been a fan. One night of quiet comfort turns into something more, leading to unexpected coffee shop encounters, stolen moments, and a love that feels just as electric as the battles she fights.
