The year is 1956 and Ianto is a struggling engineer, living alone in Cardiff. When he meets Captain Jack Harkness (who, really, is too young and attractive to be as old as any other veteran RAF Captain), he starts to learn about things about the world- the universe he finds fascinating, things he never would have known had Jack not stepped into his life, looking for help.
And the thing is is that it's more than just the Vortex Manipulator with Captain Jack. But really, was it ever any less than the just the job?

He disliked that every day was a repetition of the last and he disliked how his stomach was full of rats. He disliked pretty much everything. The only thing he hated was Torchwood. But he tried not to think about it.
Suzie Costello didn’t feel anything for her life. Didn’t feel anything for her boss, for her habits, for her hair. She didn’t feel anything for the fact that she was wasting her youth feeling numb and she didn’t feel anything for how no one even looked at her. She didn’t feel for pretty much anything. The only thing she hated was Torchwood. But she tried not to think about it.

Everything had gone to shit. And that was putting it lightly. The alien coined the 456 had quite literally beamed down into the MI5 building in a flashy show of loud noises and fire of all things- dramatic, in Ianto’s professional opinion, and he was dating Jack Harkness of all people so that was certainly saying something- disrupting the little peace the team had had over the course of the past 3 days. On top of that, this thing, whatever it was, had demanded children as a gift. A completely fucked up gift. And Jack had gone running off without so much as a word to any of them at least 15 times in the last however many hours and everyone was fed up.
To summarize, the world was ending. Again.

When Prince Arthur turns 21, his father Uther thinks it's a great idea to marry him off. Only issue is: he's a tactless, sheltered bisexual who has absolutely zero ideas on how to woo one of his two princess suitresses... Lord help this man.
Merlin definitely isn't jealous that one of the two princesses of Carenid, his foster sisters Helen and Celeste, get to marry a rich pretty boy from Camelot. And he'd totally not rather be back at home in the comfort of the castle with his mother while they're away. He's definitely pleased that he has to wait and watch on the sidelines for months... All of these statements are lies.
