“And what will you do now?” said Kenobi. “That I am dead as well?”

“What do the living do for the dead?”

    “Rejoice?” said Kenobi lightly.

    “Or mourn.”

    Summary

Julien is grieving and can't sleep. He's not the only one.

“Save your explanations. I've heard enough.” His hands shook and the Tachonis hissed as the blade kissed his throat. Something in Julien shivered in delight at the notion that the dead could still feel pain. “He'd planned this night for months, if not years, and he left you there stuffed with the priceless means of your resurrection. Why? Occtis Thaconis, if you are not a traitor, you are a tool. Either way, I am not taking my eyes off of you. Fortunately, I can't sleep either.”

The night before Easter break, I went with you to the clinic for your abortion, and we weren't even friends. It was the last time I saw you.

    Bookmarker's Notes

It’s okay. You’re out there. I’d know if you weren’t.

When I think about you, I think of some banging goth chick in her mid-twenties, now, with a buzzcut and way too many fucking piercings in her face, just whole architecture in there. Load bearing walls and flying buttresses in cartilage, and three weed-smoking girlfriends on her arm. I think of you as an ex-nun, wearing band merch, freaking people out at the grocery store. As a librarian with the worst resting bitch face on the planet. I think of you in fishnets, or maybe with a new set of pronouns, or a new name, I think of you having flown the coop. I think of you so fucking happy that it’s a war crime. It’s only right that way.

There’s the other option, though. The world where you haven’t broken free yet. The world where I left you in the lion’s den, and you’re out there in a habit, in a marriage, in a box. I try to avoid the thought, but it finds me, late at night when I can’t sleep. You, in your last year at school, setting another appointment at an abortion clinic, and there’s nobody to take the bus with you. Nobody to cut your hair or even think about holding your hand. It’s too cruel to consider. I have to think of you happy, otherwise… I don’t know. I couldn’t live with myself.

    Summary

Set during the first five hundred days, before all goes pear-shaped. The question “does Hilbert have kids” gets derailed by the followup question “does Hilbert have sex, like, ever.” An extremely poorly-thought-out experiment follows. Plus, questionable fashion choices, Tom Jones, seaweed moonshine, and Eiffel’s mojo.

    Summary

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! We can’t wait until we can say Happy Hunger Games in earnest (only another month!), but in the meantime, we are celebrating the best moment of Games from years past. Make sure you also check out our list of the most iconic final showdowns and our favorite post-victory moments.

What’s on the plate for today? Glad you asked! The Games are all about triumph, but they’re also all about tragedy (which makes those victories even sweeter). Today, we’re looking at 17 final moments from Tributes that we are still thinking about. To make it harder for ourselves, we could only pick one from each Games (so if your favorite didn’t make the cut, that could be why!). Some made us scream, some made us cry, and a few even made us laugh (you’ll see!). Read on!

As she realizes she’s too injured to get up and flee from the muttations and that her most impressive victory has just condemned her to death, she says what the audience was thinking—”That’s not fair.”

    Life rarely is, Nori.
