“Um,” Jude starts, eyes darting around. He’s still nervous, even though he knows what he’s going to say, and he knows that these guys are his closest friends—they aren’t going to judge him. “No alpha has ever made me come before.”
Jude’s face is burning when he says it, and it drops on the group like a bomb. For a moment, there’s silence, and then Gio and Jadon are practically scrambling over each other to get their words out.
“What?”
“Never? No alpha?”
“How is that possible?”
“How many alphas have you been with?”
“Have they even tried?” That last question comes from Erling. It’s the first thing he’s said since Jude’s turn started, since Gio asked the question that Jude’s now admitted to. It’s sharper than the other questions from the boys, and he doesn’t sound as amused. Now his scent is really doing something weird, the pine getting strong enough that it’s nearly overwhelming. It’s the way he smells on the pitch when someone’s getting too close to Jude, too aggressive—like he’s pissed off, but for a reason. Indignation.—

Michael opens his eyes, glancing over his shoulder first to assess the situation — ah, yes, his car has just been hit; good to know — and then at the person standing beside him, and there he is, the one responsible for all this. His clothes make it look as though he had just escaped a children's party, right after being attacked by every kid there. The puffed sleeves of his shirt are disheveled, his gray vest is rumpled and torn in places, and a few stray green leaves are stuck in his hair. Honestly, Michael is surprised he’s driving a real car and not a fucking carriage. But despite looking like an outlandish, walking disaster, the smile he gives Michael is big and friendly.
“Oh, hi,” he says, in a tone overly cheerful for their situation. Michael can hear the exclamation marks floating at the end of the sentence.
“Hi,” Michael forces out through gritted teeth. “You wrecked my car."

Jamal falls from his fairytale world, and Michael's terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day gets even worse.

The moment he’s free, Jude heads backstage again, dropping the bills he’d made into his locker and walking to the back staircase. He doesn’t stop to talk to any of the other dancers, but none of them exactly want to talk to him either. They know he’s Erling’s favorite, and he knows they’re all jealous. Whatever.
He climbs the stairs slowly, his heart racing. He’s a little sweaty from the stage lights, but Erling’s never cared before and Jude knows he won’t care now, either. It’s dark in the stairwell, and the lighting in the hallway to Erling’s office is low. The music from downstairs has picked up again, the stage closed temporarily, the dance stage turning into a regular dance floor for a while. Lights flash across the hallway, reds and purples and blues, and Jude stops before the door at the end of the hall.
He knocks twice, and the door swings open half a second later.
Erling looks pissed.—

Nobody else had burrowed under his skin like Haaland had. He was so far from his usual type, so friendly and stoic and cool-headed. God, Jude had liked him so much. He’d spent years making such a tit of himself trying to impress him, and what kept him on the backfoot was that he hadn’t needed to - Haaland had been his rock from the moment he joined the club. It was so easy, so effortless to slip into a routine, it unsettled Jude as much as it thrilled him. But he hadn’t liked how small Haaland made him feel. How out of control. The man was unflappable, impossible to provoke. Jude resented his own infatuation, the ever-swelling bubble of fondness he nursed for Erling, because he had no idea how to be with a man who didn’t fight back.
