Summary
It started, as most things did, by accident.
Instead of properly packing up to leave Paris, Nick was too busy snogging Charlie any spare second they were alone. And also, if he was being honest, not alone. Packing ended up being Tao and Isaac laughing, while the two of them scurried around throwing clothing in holdalls hoping they didn’t leave anything behind. It wasn't until Nick was home a few days later, when he finally started unpacking, that he noticed the extra shirt.
He knew it was Charlie’s right away, he had a weird thing about seeing Charlie in anything other than long sleeves; each and every brief opportunity was memorised. It was the shirt he’d slept in, which made it even better. Since he was very alone in his room, he held the striped shirt to his face and inhaled Charlie’s lovely scent. It might be a little weird, but he was pretty sure he’d seen Charlie smell his jumpers anytime he’d steal them.
Turnabout was fair play.

Summary
Charlie works the night shift at an almost empty café.
Between hot cups and the yellow glow of the lamps, there is a box where strangers leave anonymous notes: confessions, secrets, little fragments of their lives.
Nick is a young teacher who has just arrived in town. He spends his nights grading tests and trying to cope with expectations that always seem heavier than he can bear. Despite everything, he cares deeply about his students, noticing details that no one else notices. Inside his mind, he has little pieces of his life and fears that he would never have the courage to express aloud. Even when he is tired or distracted, there is a quiet kindness in him, something that calms and charms anyone lucky enough to cross his path.
Sweet, shy, and gentle, but full of little vapors that burn slowly, like the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, which can only be smelled when you are close enough.

Maybe he could have gotten away with it if he had just sent the song, but of course, he had to tell Nick that the song reminded him of Nick. Brilliant. Charlie might as well have stood in front of Nick’s door with a poster that said, “Hey! I’m in love with you!”. Actually, that might have been less obvious than the ballad he just sent.
And not only is the idea of Nick knowing about his feelings absolutely mortifying, but he responded to the message. His response didn’t even leave room for Charlie to pretend that Nick didn’t understand the meaning behind the lyrics because why else would he reply with just “Oh” to it, then?
AKA The one where Charlie accidentally confesses his feelings for Nick by sending him a love song.

Charlie came to a stop at the light, about to tell Nick it was time to go since he was almost back to his dorms, when he suddenly jolted forward. It took him by surprise, he couldn’t help the yelp that escaped him.
Nick was immediately talking, sounding far more panicked than Charlie even felt. “You okay? Charlie? Did something happen?”
“Yes, but I’m fine, I think someone just hit my car."
