Summary
The United Coalition prides itself on its biodiversity above all else, a society teeming with unique intelligent life hailing from all edges of the galaxy. The Intelligent Organism Diversity Agency exists solely to maintain this ecosystem, fighting to keep rare species from extinction. Their research makes an incredible breakthrough as they discover that select humans are universal breeders.
Jonah Basset, an intern in the IOBA office, is mistakenly scanned and identified as a perfect subject. As a result, he is offered a staggering amount of money and free luxury housing to serve as a full-time participant in the Human Assisted Reproduction Project. With an offer like that, how could he refuse? Now, if only he could shake the feeling that there's something off about the IOBA and their selection of clientele.
I.E. a sci-fi universe created entirely to excuse me writing an offensive amount of alien/monster sex ft. a gay trans man written by a gay trans man.

Summary
Mira huffed, leaning back slightly, chest rising and falling fast as she stared at Zoey. Her pupils were blown wide, cheeks flushed, lips a little swollen.
Zoey’s thumb brushed lazily over Mira’s bottom lip, catching the faint dampness there. She leaned in until her breath was warm against Mira’s ear, her voice low and teasing. “Am I a good kisser, Mir?”
Mira’s breath hitched, and for once, she didn’t have the confidence she usually wore like armor. She nodded, still a little dazed. “…Amazing,” she breathed out.
Zoey grinned, pulling back just enough to look at her properly, cupping her chin and tilting it up. “Better than hers?”
For a second Mira’s brain blanked on who she meant—then she remembered, and her face heated immediately. She nodded quickly. “So much better.”
Zoey hummed softly, the sound low and satisfied, brushing her thumb over Mira’s jaw. “Good,” she whispered, before kissing her again.

“It’s—” Rumi physically freezes. It looks like it takes her a moment to compute what Mira had said, then she finishes stiffly, “It’s what?”
Mira’s never been one to lie; and, lo and behold, hashtag polytrix was indeed pressed up as number one on the social media app they’re staring at. Zoey glances down at the related hashtags trending with it: #ITSREAL #POLYTRIXONTOP #RUMIONBOTTOM #HUNTR/XGIRLS #TOTHEGAYWORLD
Or, Mira, Rumi, and Zoey get caught in the middle of their fans' shipping war—but maybe one ship in particular has more substance than the others.

Finally, Zoey blurted it out, voice soft but sharp:
“Have you ever thought of… something besides monogamy?”
Mira’s thumb stilled on the screen. She looked up, slow. “…What?”
Zoey’s hands twisted in her lap. “Like—not open relationships. Just… not just one person. Have you ever thought about being with more than one person and it still being okay?”
She wasn’t looking at Mira. Her voice was tight, like it hurt to speak. Mira watched her with a furrowed brow, still quiet.
“I feel so guilty all the time. Because I love you, Mira. I love you, and this doesn’t change that, but I see her and I want to make her smile and I want her to hold my hand and I think she’s beautiful and weird and sweet and I—”
She finally looked up, tears shining in her eyes.
“I think I ruined us. And I’m so sorry.”
Mira just stared at her. Wide-eyed. Silent.
Zoey’s heart dropped. “Say something.”
Mira exhaled like she’d been holding her breath for a month.
Then she visibly deflated—shoulders dropping, head tilting back against the wall—and let out a quiet, choked laugh.
“…Oh thank god.”

She didn’t think Makoto was the kind of girl to be into roses and flower language, sure, because she’s just so proper and ladylike all the time (except for as Queen— ironically enough). But the enthused way she explains is just so fitting. She gets this bright cadence to her voice that reminds Ann of lilies or sunflowers and is so different from her usual stern, commanding alto.
“You’re actually really cute,” Ann says, watching the way Makoto turns the ring over in her hands.
… which is evidently the absolute wrong thing to say, because Makoto looks like she’s just been shot.

Makoto's legs swung back and forth over the edge of her bed. She couldn't remember the last time she had been this nervous. Ann had called her out of the blue to ask if she wanted to study for exams together. Makoto had invited Ann over faster than she could think better of it. She chewed at her bottom lip. What was she thinking? Her heart was about to beat out of her chest, and Ann wasn't even here yet. Ann said she'd be over "soon." When exactly was soon? Makoto flopped back on her mattress, thoroughly exasperated with herself and letting out a long sigh. She was overthinking this.
