Adora had wondered briefly, if there was something between Glimmer and Bow. She saw the way they touched each other absentmindedly. Turns out people outside of the Horde show physical affection on a daily basis. Who knew.
She had once imagined how Catra would react to this information. If she'd be thrilled or embarrassed to know they could just lean on each other and not have to reserve it for the privacy of their rooftop.
Well.
Adora supposes it's Catra's rooftop now.
But she doesn't have to think about that right this second.

Summary
Adora feels—unhurried. A new experience. Catra doesn’t seem in a rush, either, and so Adora takes all the time she wants, studying the way the wind ripples Catra’s hair around the edges, the way she can feel it even without touching it, short and fuzzy beneath her fingers. Her freckles stand out a little more, now, under the newer sun; or maybe Adora is simply paying better attention.

Adora’s eyes fly open. And there, standing beside Adora’s bed, is Catra. She is dressed the same as before—still clad in that dark evening gown, her delicate figure framed against the moonlight spilling between the curtains.
Catra watches Adora with unmistakable amusement. A smirk spreads across her lips, revealing a pair of white glistening fangs—each one tapered to a deadly tip.
(In other words, former lovers Adora and Catra reunite after many years apart, only to discover that Catra is now a vampire—and Adora is a vampire hunter. Can they still find love despite their differences?)

How to just say no when she wants to, sleep when she needs to, let go of her burdens when they weigh her down. She gets better day by day. And if Adora wants to build something of her own from the ground up, so be it. It’s not in her nature to do things the easy way.
Catra laces their fingers together. She kisses the back of Adora’s hand. “I’m in.”

Hours pass, and Adora still can't sleep. She recalls when Lonnie told them about the tattoos, Adora had carefully watched Catra's expression, her heterochromatic eyes bored and uninterested. Adora hadn't felt that way, it didn't sound all bad. If they're real, she had thought, with flutters in her stomach, I want it to be you.
It's painful to think about. Even if she did have Catra's name on her wrist, she can't imagine that it would make a difference. Catra wouldn't join her before, and Adora's certain that she wouldn't join her now, tattoo or otherwise.

“...maybe. If I knew what it was. Or where it was.”
Catra’s claws come to rest at the end of that ponytail, carefully picking out the twigs while combing through lazily.
Slitted eyes peer down, spotting a rare moment of half lidded, unfocused eyes. The ink pen falls slack in that hand, and for a few precious seconds, Catra believes Adora will succumb right then and there.
But then--a quick sigh and a harsh inhale, Adora squares her shoulders and sits up, rolling her shoulders and reaching for a book to her left to thumb through quickly.
