“Yeah okay, thank you Darryl.” Carol says, swinging her bag over onto her shoulder. “Talk to Mr. Walker about getting a new tutor or something, Close, I can’t work with you.” Glenn sits up quickly.
“What- are you kidding me? You’re ditching me because I got mad you were snooping around in my business? How is that reasonable?” Glenn retorts, angry now. If he didn’t at least have a steady tutor thing going on than Jodie would actually learn to lay off with his grades. Part of Glenn was doing it so Jodie would stop annoying him and part of him was doing it because…well he could see the look Jodie was giving him while reading his report card. Dad wasn’t home, he didn’t give a shit otherwise, and Mom wasn’t answering calls and she wanted nothing to do with them now. Glenn wasn’t disappointed about that, he wasn’t he really wasn’t.

That feeling dwindles when he stands up in the front office and sees Jodie, his older brother, talking to the front desk lady. He glares as Jodie notices him. He’s wearing his uniform for the Dairy Queen he works at, but his hat and apron are off so at least he doesn't look like an idiot. He’s smiling politely at the woman behind the desk as she makes him sign something.
“Why are you here?” Glenn asks, tugging at the straps of his backpack. He’s shaking a little from anger and how dizzy he feels from the fever. Jodie looks over and his eyebrows settle into the usual furrow.
“The school called home when I got back from work,” He explains. He looks Glenn over in a way that pisses him off more.

“Dad doesn't give a shit if we’re late,” Glenn says, and Jodie glares at him. Jodie’s an adult now, which is a weird thing for Glenn to wrap his head around. He knows that Jodie is older, a six year difference, and considering Glenn is 12, it makes logical sense. But Jodie doesn't act like an adult, he’s so fucking annoying and whiney it's stupid. Glenn has always hated his brother, he gets onto him about literally everything he does, it's way more annoying than Mom. At least she tries to pretend like she likes it when Glenn is visiting her house.
“Glenn, language.” The woman in question scolds from where she stands at the counter in the kitchen. Jodie is standing near the front door, his arms folded over his chest and his satchel bag is on his hip as well as his duffle bag that he always takes to Mom’s house. Glenn still hasn't packed, too busy listening to his new record that he got with money from selling the laser pointers that Dad gave him.

It’s a genuine question, but Silas laughs. “Nothing like that, kid, don’t worry,” he says, which makes Glenn wonder what actually happened to all those DVDs when Bill left. “Nah, it’s just — she’s moving out soon. Wants to be with her mom, back east. But, uh, she found some things she thought you might want to take a look at. See if they were your dad’s, and if you wanted to keep it in the family, so to speak.”
