Immediately, it’s obvious that Yugamu is exhausted, his shoulders and even his hair somewhat deflated as he shuffles over the threshold. He’s still in his scrubs—not wholly surprising, but Yugamu typically prefers to leave the work clothes at work, because he says people treat him differently in public if they identify him as a healthcare worker—and his expression is, while not outwardly crestfallen, subdued. Dismal, the way it gets whenever he’s having feelings and trying to hold them back…
In reaction, Takumi wakes himself up the rest of the way and sits off their girlfriend. Nozomi makes a concerned hum from behind him, but neither of them move for a moment, watching while Yugamu drops his bag on top of the shoe cubby, then crouches to start removing his boots.
Takumi boils over and gets to his feet, padding to the foyer to collect Yugamu’s slippers for him. “Hey, long day?” He keeps his voice intentionally casual—Yugamu doesn’t always care for being coddled, as much as that’s typically Takumi’s immediate instinct.

Summary
Yugamu looked over him with fondness, gently brushing a finger across his cheek and watching him lean into the soft touch like an animal begging for affection. This felt more like the Sumino he remembered, the Sumino he fell in love with. The whole point of this had, of course, been for Takumi's benefit, to make him receptive to everyone's love. Yugamu's work was flawless. He was sure everyone would be pleased to see the results.

Takumi looked up from a book he'd been holding open for the past twenty minutes without reading a single word. He blinked.
"Huh? I...wouldn't?" I'm not a killer, he wanted to say, but thought better of it. "Where is this coming from?"
"You were willing to kill Eito. Absorb his hemoanima. Make him a part of you forever."
"Is that what this is about?"
Takumi was a bit jealous of Yugamu's interest in Eito. He didn't realize that the jealousy went both ways.

He strokes back a tuft of blood-caked hair from his face.

Those words finally snap Takumi back to his senses. He meets Yugamu's eyes, searching them as he silently repeats what he'd just heard.
A 'proposition?' From him? His gut warns him that that can't possibly come without some ulterior motive attached, but Yugamu's face is difficult to read. It almost always is.
Nevertheless, he cautiously takes the bait.
[After a terrible accident beyond the school grounds, Yugamu offers Takumi a favor. Things get a bit out of hand.]

It would be wrong to say Shu deserves better than this, because he doesn't, but Nazuna's greatest strength and his worst fault is that he sees the best in everyone. Shu should have a love that makes him feel safe, comfortable, and appreciated, and he should have that half a world away from Nazuna.
If you love someone, set them free - but Shu never could, so Nazuna never will.
Nazuna arranges a surprise for Shu's birthday.

Nito rests his head atop Shu’s hair, steady and warm, and Shu realizes he’s standing on the ledge of the railing just to reach. Something wet slips down Shu’s cheek, spilling over his eyelid, and Shu thinks it’s his own tear at first, but he then realizes that Nito is weeping. Tears that don’t belong to him slide down Shu’s face, and he vaguely wonders if he should be crying too.
“Where did we fall apart?” Nito cries, “Where did I fail you?”
Shu croaks, “Never. It was never you.”
“Where? Where did it go wrong?”
When he’s thrown back in time with the chance to save his friends, Nito tries to find a place to stop, to land where it all went wrong. If there’s a chance to make ex-Valkyrie right, he isn’t able to find it.
