Sawamura stands tall and proud on the mound, hands in the air, as the rest of the players swarm out of the dugout to surround him in a sea of white and blue.
Kazuya wishes he could be with them.
Instead, he watches from the bleachers as his old teammates celebrate something he’d been dreaming of since he’d discovered baseball at just five years old, something he’d tried his hardest to achieve with this very team.

Summary
Eijun’s never thought this hard about birthday gifts before. Or anything for that matter. Back in Nagano, a card and cake were golden for his friends, but Miyuki Kazuya? Who detested sugar, would definitely scoff at a flimsy card, and never talked about anything other than baseball? Yeah, Eijun has his work cut out for him.
Until he overhears Miyuki and Kuramochi having a conversation.
“Why’re you jealous, bro?” Kuramochi asks.Miyuki rubs the back of his neck and sighs, “I just haven’t had bussy in a while.”
Kuramochi visibly heaves and puts his hand over his mouth, “Oh, hell nah. Ain’t no way you unironically call it that.”
“I’m just saying it to annoy you, but I’m being serious. It’s been ages and I can’t stand it anymore. I really need some bussy. It’s so good.”
Eijun slowly tilts his head in confusion. The neurons are firing and his brain taps into every corner of its database, but comes up empty with the definition of this newfound word the duo keeps mentioning.
Eijun raises an inquisitive brow and whispers to himself.
“Bussy? What’s that?”

What does a typical Japanese high school student’s summer vacation include? To some, it may be dazzling golden beaches and crystal-clear sea shores. To others, it may be making appointments with friends to visit the aquarium, arcade or the new trendy pop-up cafes.
However, to Sawamura Eijun, it meant 2 things. Summer training camp and extra lessons… that is if he doesn’t pass his makeup tests.

Really, he doesn’t even know why he’s here. Holding a stupid box with a stupid present and a stupid card and–
Maybe it’s fitting. Eijun is an idiot, after all. Kazuya doesn’t know why he’s freaking out. Like, what’s the worst that will happen? Eijun smiles too brightly? Is too pleased that Kazuya remembers his birthday and even got him something? It’s not like he’s going to look at Kazuya and suddenly, by some miracle, figure out Kazuya’s been in love with him. So, really, what’s the big deal?
Except that it’s all a big deal, to Kazuya. He’s not great with acknowledging his feelings, worse at processing them. To express them, even in a roundabout way, is practically uncharted territory for him. But this is Eijun. Kazuya can’t find it in himself not to do something for him.
He can practically hear Kuramochi laughing at him for this, and he hasn’t even knocked yet.
Or, Kazuya buys Eijun a birthday gift.
