Summary
Namjoon moves from the city to his grandfather's residence in the countryside. It's a haphazard attempt, at best, towards keeping his writing career on track. Already late on his deadlines, he plans to secret himself away in a world of words.
His grandfather, however, has another plan: Fake as many pet emergencies as necessary to get Namjoon laid. (It's foolproof.)
Hoseok would just like for his summer plans to include some coffee, time away from Jimin’s bird, and a hot summer romance. Not necessarily in that order.

Summary
Akiteru, if he was being truthful, which he was always trying to be these days, was actually kind of a wimp. But he was okay with that! He’d had years to learn and plan around it.
And because Akiteru knew this about himself, he’d had A Plan. A solid one.

Summary
Christopher starts shaking more violently then. “Buck jumped back in the water for me.”
There’s a protocol for a lot of scenarios, both in the Army and as an EMT. Eddie is used to knowing what to do, and how to do it; who to help, and where. Yet now, hopelessness splits through him like a bullet. Eddie doesn’t know what else to do other than hold his kid tighter and press his lips to his temple.
“Is that– Christopher?” Hen asks over his shoulder. The tiny pocket of universe that he’s created with just him, his son, and Buck’s name battering in his chest unravels.
Still keeping Christopher in his arms, Eddie rises to his feet. “I made Buck watch him for the day to get him out of the house. He– he brought him to the pier.”
“Where is he, Eddie?” Bobby asks carefully.
There’s a protocol for a lot of scenarios, both in the Army and as an EMT, but not for this.

Summary
Eddie is at an open house in El Paso, eating mini quiches and making awkward conversation with another prospective buyer—single mom, two kids in the school district Chris has been attending since September, pleasant and, in retrospect, kind of flirty—when the accident happens.
He doesn't know, though later that feels impossible. He should have felt the impact from eight hundred miles away.

Summary
“I’m in Abby’s house!” Buck whispers urgently to the phone and the busyness on the other side of the line stops. “And she’s here!”
Eddie doesn’t answer right away. Buck gets it, it’s fucking crazy. His brain hasn’t shut off since he woke up. Eddie deserves some time.
“And…?”
Out of all the things that Eddie could’ve said, that was the least likely in his head. He brings the phone away from his ear to make sure he called the right person because that is not how Eddie would react. Eddie hates Abby – Buck knows he hates Abby no matter how poorly he tries to hide it. Eddie’s never been particularly good at his hiding his disdain for Buck’s girlfriends, and now when Buck needs him to ratchet it up to eleven?
Nowhere to be found. Eddie has put Buck on a raft and pushed him out to sea.
“What do you mean, ‘and?’” Buck hisses in the phone. “That’s not enough life changing information for you?”
“Buck, why would it be life changing to be sleeping at the house you own with your wife?”
*
Or, Buck thinks too hard about couches, his past relationships, and the stupid alarm that just won’t shut up.

Buck shoots him a glance. “I’m not concussed.”
“Right. And I’m not bleeding out in the back of an overturned ambulance.”

Summary
“How did you get home from the hospital?”
“Took an uber.”
“Does Maddie know?” Silence. “Does anyone?” More silence. More of Buck refusing to meet his gaze, staring at the door like he thought he could entice Eddie to leave by the power of suggestion. Well, good fucking luck, Eddie thought. Wild horses, and all that. “Why didn’t you call anyone?” he demanded. “Why didn’t you call me?”
“I did!” Buck snarled. The momentum of his indignation carried him into a sitting position, and Eddie could see him flinch with the pain of it. His unnaturally stoic front was gone, and something raw and wrenching took its place; it occurred to Eddie that he’d never heard Buck raise his voice before. “I did call you, Eddie! As I was bleeding out on my kitchen floor. You. Didn’t. Answer.”
---
The squatter in Buck's attic has a knife. Buck has a bit of a breakdown. Eddie has a plan to make everything right.
