A dispatcher with no superpowers. Someone who writes mission briefs and tracks coordinates from behind a desk. Someone who got here because of the family name, because of legacy, because the world handed you opportunities everyone else had to bleed for. That Blazer bled for. That Robert did too.
Of course Blazer’s the one he’s talking to.
Of course she’s the one who fits next to him in a photograph.
The hero and the heroine.
A perfect fucking fairytale.
You tug at the edge of your dress, trying to smooth the invisible wrinkles that aren’t really there. The room feels too hot, too bright, the laughter too loud. Your eyes sting, though you tell yourself it’s from the champagne.
They look perfect together.
And for a fleeting—traitorous second, you wish you were her.
Or: a corporate gala brings unspoken feelings to the surface between you and one of the biggest heroes SDN has ever seen. Coupled with just enough jealousy, pride, and angst to make the end a little bit sweeter :)

It had been his parent's anniversary. Twenty-three years. And he'd told himself it wouldn’t get to him this time.
It did.
So instead, he asks the dumbest, safest thing he can think of.
“What’s for breakfast?” he goes, voice casual; might as well start neutral before they spiral into something heavier.
Kazansky, glances back briefly—enough to check that Mitchell’s upright and alive, probably, or maybe just out of incredulity—then turns to flip something sizzling in the pan, reply exactly what Mitchell was expecting.
“Eggs and bacon.”
Or, Bradshaw and Kerner have the brilliant idea to send Mitchell's sworn rival over to his place during their leave. And on the man's parents' death anniversary, things are bound to go sideways.
