Summary
“You’re sick.” Atsumu fails to see the correlation.
“Yeah?”
Kiyoomi pulls out some medicine, nodding quickly after checking the use by.
“People like being looked after when they’re sick.” Not Atsumu. He would laugh if he didn’t feel like he just went eight rounds with a monster truck. Kiyoomi turns to him, face crumpled at Atsumu’s shagginess.
“I’m…” Kiyoomi trails off and goes back to gathering items; water, a sports drink, a thermometer—since when did Atsumu own a thermometer?—and a few other bits. “I’m going to look after—help—you… whatever.” Kiyoomi mumbles as he pushes around the items he’s placed on the countertop.
Atsumu has no fucking clue what’s happening right now. Is he having a fever induced hallucination? Is he actually asleep? Is Kiyoomi going to murder him?
atsumu is sick, despite his best efforts not to be, and kiyoomi... well, atsumu thinks he may be sick too, because why the hell is he offering to look after him?

Kiyoomi liked to think that he was grown. He had a steady job playing for the Jackals, he had a savings account, he paid his taxes and fixed his own meals. So, why was he standing in the corner of his friend's apartment with his finger on his nose, counting down from 10 in his head so that he didn’t choke his cousin to death?
Kiyoomi has spent his life feeling like too much. Atsumu has spent his life feeling too loud. All it takes is a stupid childhood game, a meddling cousin, an obnoxious brother, some A+ banter, a new found family and a moment of courage to help them both feel like they might be enough.

When Miya Atsumu gets off on the wrong foot with a certain Sakusa Kiyoomi on the first day of practice for MSBY Black Jackals, he vows to avoid the stuck-up spiker as much as he can, even while on the same volleyball team. And it would've been a good plan--if Atsumu didn't meet Sakusa again at group therapy that very night.
