    Summary

Hans has had enough. The people don’t respect him, his uncle thinks he is unfit for anything, and nothing he ever does is enough.
So he ventures out on a whim, gets his helmet visor hopelessly stuck shut, saves a woman’s life, and hears the most magical words of his life: thank you.

He quickly decides to do it again.

    Anonymously.

Throw in a pesky local blacksmith, one fateful visit to the bathhouse, and a mysterious knight with the same idea (whom he keeps running into)—and Hans’ life becomes something he could never have expected.

Or: a little story about how two idiots manage to find each other twice and accidentally create a local legend.

    Summary

    MULTI CHAPTER FIC

Henry escaped Skalitz when his parents were killed during the raid. Only Martin didn't tell him to go to Radzig. Instead, he told him to get to Kuttenburg and the forge he apprenticed at. He told Henry that Shkoda and Magdalena would keep him safe from war. It was his last attempt to keep him from a life of warring and fighting even when it came knocking at their door. Taking the sword that they had forged for Radzig with him, he fled after they were cut down in front of him. He doesn't know that Radzig is his father. He doesn't go to Rattay. He doesn't meet Sir Hans Capon... but one night, when Henry finds a thief in his forge, he assumes that dealing with him will be straightforward.

It turns out to be anything but. And meetings don't happen the way they might have, had he been told the truth on the day that Skalitz burned.

    Summary

Henry is devoted to Hans Capon, not simply because of the vow he'd made as his page, but because his heart dwells within his young Lord's chest.

(This started as missing scenes when Henry rode w/ Sam to get reinforcements but then I kept writing so here we are)

    Summary

Water dripped from the hair plastered to their foreheads, barely noticed as it fell onto their already soaked shoulders. Hans’ face burned as he looked up to the small ceiling-like covering above them. “Well, better this than catch the cold.”

Henry’s laugh was warm against his cheek, “You look like a wet cat.”

Hans’ eyes snapped back to Henry. “You take that back right now, yokel.”

Henry’s smile lit the space between them and that familiar ache he had felt all day in his chest felt like stabbing pain. “It’s even worse when you’re mad. You get all puffed up.”

“I do not-” Hans shuffled where he stood, squaring his shoulders until he realized it only pushed him further into contact with Henry. “You smell like a wet dog.”

The corner of Henry’s lip twitched higher, “Yeah?”

Hans’ reply, meant to be stern and assured, came out as a softly spoken whisper, “Yeah.”
    ---

The Devil's Den harbored many secrets, poorly kept and air-tight alike. Hans hoped every glance he spared to Henry was locked away in a little box inside his chest – hidden and far enough away that nobody could see how much he was choking on his own want.
