“Hold the door!”
The soon-to-be-employee (there was no doubt in his mind that he’d be an employee soon; how could he not?) snapped his head up at the sound of a panicked shout from across the lobby. He reached out and pushed his hand in between the elevator doors, keeping them open until the figure entered. The second he did, he quickly retracted his hand and studied it for any grime. Eugh, gross, who knows what these doors have seen.
“Ah, err, thank you very much…”
He took a moment to survey the other person’s appearance. Oh, Jesus, who let this guy out into society?

The protagonist's coworker was a newbie too, at one point. And so, bright-eyed and ready to take on any challenge he comes across with ease, he gets on the elevator to get to his interview in a timely manner. Things do not go as planned.

A prequel fic for Elevator Hitch focusing on Coworker's personal first experience on the elevator from hell while trying to get to his interview, featuring originally concocted floors, puzzles, and brutal endings by yours truly, as well as his strange and frankly pathetic companion who seems to be extremely good at being useless in helping them get where they need to go.
