It was one of those days where he woke up without the will to be disturbed by anything, and the energy he exuded was more of quiet disappointment rather than cocky charm. He was sure Barbatos had to be fucking with him. Or at least, Venti had to be. There was no way a normal breeze would be able to whip an entire fried egg out of his hands and send it splattering onto the tiled street in a rush of golden yolk.

    or: kaeya's been protecting mondstadt for this long and has quietly grown empty from the endlessness of it all. when he gets taken along on a trip to liyue and meets another silent protector just as empty as himself, maybe, somehow, they can both fix each other.
