It was in the aftermath of a vicious battle, Ulpianus remembers, after the Third Company made their way back to the Milliarium, a few Hunters short but alive. He lied to Blandus’s face, telling him he was fine, and stumbled to his own quarters to rest while his injured subordinates used the pods.
“I do not see a need for the pod when I can handle it myself,” Ulpianus told her back then. He looked up at Gladiia from where he was bleeding in the bathtub. Her expression was twisted with something Ulpianus couldn’t identify then and can’t remember now.
Ulpianus and the trials and tribulations of taking care of his damn self.

Every time Dan Heng moves, he cries out, but it isn’t Dan Heng’s name he keens through desperate gasps, not Dan Heng’s face he’s looking up at with such adoration.
Dan Heng awakens from these dreams ashamed, bitterly jealous, and painfully aroused.
Dan Heng is born into the wrong body, figures himself out, and finds his place in the world, not necessarily in that order.
