“But,” Phainon said, voice lower now, more certain despite the way his pulse was still racing, “there is one thing though.”
Mydei didn’t pull away. “Mm, go on.”
“I…” he started, voice catching slightly as Mydei’s grip tightened just enough to make his brain briefly stop working. He forced himself to keep going anyway. “I could do so much better than this… version of me you’ve made up in your head.”
Mydei’s hands paused, though they didn’t move away.
“In your fantasies,” Phainon added, his voice dropping a little as he leaned closer without fully realizing he was doing it. “I could be so, so much better, Mydei.”
In which Phainon wakes up one day suddenly able to see everyone’s thoughts, including Mydei.

He heard a sharp intake of breath next to him. Phainon looked to his right, where Mydeimos was watching the Jellies with adept attention. His eyes, locked onto the fishes’ dance, seemed to be sparkling; his mouth slightly agape as white light emerged from the water. He looked as though he was witnessing magic, which Phainon could only assume this must be like for him-such mesmerizing displays could only be seen in animals’ natural environments, away from cities like Okhema.
“They’re beautiful,” he said.
The Summer Night sky was dark, and the only illumination came from the jellyfish and the Fisherman’s Shop’s flickering outdoor lights. Phainon didn’t know when his focus had shifted from the Moonlight Jellies’ Dance, but he noticed in the faint glow how pretty Mydeimos’ eyelashes were; he watched the other man aptly as he marveled at the spectacle, smiling at his enthusiasm and awe.
“Aren’t they?” Phainon breathed out, his blue eyes still fixated on Mydeimos.

"I'll what?" Mydei asks.
"You'll—" Phainon's teeth are gritted. His breath comes in harsh pants. He takes a hit to the side, lands one to Mydei's face. "—Take me with you," he finishes. That's the moment when he falters, losing his balance after taking a knee to the gut, glaring furiously but not struggling when he finds himself pinned. His eyes, up close, are frightfully blue.
"You're smiling," he says.
Mydei smiles a little wider. "You'd be wise to assume I'm baring my teeth."

Not only did Mydei look beautiful — because it was an indisputable fact, but also awesome. He had a dozen piercings on his face, the most beautiful eyes he had ever seen, dyed red tips and even red tattoos covering his muscular body…
In short — he looked divine.
Phainon was a famous figure skater, who was known as ''The art itself'' due to his impressive artistry.
Mydei was known as a ''Hephaestion's ex'' as if he was only a lover and not the artist who also created a music (like his ex) and his future career was ruined only because he loved the wrong person, who broke his heart.
So what do ice skater and the rockstar have in common, expect they met one time a few years ago? Some peoples assumed that nothing -> because they are both an artist who trying to create their stories.
But they shared a one - about a grief.

Summary
Phainon can't stop thinking about that dream.
After Mydei leaves with the kid, he has no choice but to shower before heading to work. A peek in the mirror takes enough to regret the moment he said goodbye to Mydei at the front door, looking deplorable like a wet dog in the streets.
Not even soaking his head in cold water manages to clear his mind properly, so this time he even makes himself extra coffee, knowing he will need all the energy to face the day he has ahead. It's been so long since he dreamed. He's never been someone with vivid dreams—or at least if he had, he doesn't remember them.
Now the first thing he does in months is dream about the kid they've fostered accusing him of killing someone, of all the possibilities.
Or, the story where Phainon and Mydei live as roommates, but they barely exchange words. At least until they find themselves taking care of a kid together, and memories of a distant life mix with the present, presenting in the form of dreams.

In the blink of an eye, Phainon grabbed the fist that was headed towards his face and smoothly pulled a knife from his coat to hold it to his attacker’s throat — only to realize that it was Mydeimos, the very man that Aglaea wanted him to protect.
Warm golden eyes stared back at him, and nearly seemed to glow a little as Mydei smiled. “Well. Looks like you know your stuff.”
“Is that how you introduce yourself to people?” Phainon asked as he released his grip on Mydei’s fist and put the knife back in his coat.
“Just the ones I’ll be constantly trusting with my life,” Mydei said sarcastically. “So far, you’re the only one that’s had that dubious honor.”

Phainon still wavers. The softness of his lips is right there, close but not close enough, when he should be pressing them hungrily over Mydei’s and swallowing all the words and feelings before they can get out.
“Kiss me,” Mydei insists, closing his own hands on Phainon’s stupid choker and pulling. It sounds like he’s begging; just another thing he can add to the long list of things he usually never does: going to someone’s place after just a few drinks; kissing them in public as if the entire world didn’t matter. Falling in love.

"Are they allowed in your bed?" The question comes before he can think twice. He flusters from his own words, squirming in his seat when greeted with Mydei's pointed silence. Phainon's lips open and close, hands balling into fists, "Sorry, that was—"
"If they're well behaved," Mydei interrupts, propping his elbow up on the bar, mirroring his pose, chin propped on his hand, "Are you?"
Phainon is, he thinks, eyes tracing the arch of his brow, the curved bridge of his strong nose and plush, pink lips. He could be so well behaved.
After a messy breakup, Phainon seeks out a change of pace. He might not be one of Mydei's regulars, but he wouldn't mind being something a little more.
