“Why, yes,” Cardan says, a joyous lilt in his voice that might mean that he is genuinely excited or simply that he is more drunk than Jude thinks he is, “got it from this marvelous shop called-“
“Don’t say it-“ Jude purses her lips, clutching the container tightly between her fingers.
“Sephora.” Cardan says, eyes glimmering with mirth. A lock of dark hair falls across his face and Jude absent-mindedly pushes it away, biting her lower lip.
“Do I even want to ask when and how you found yourself at Sephora?” Jude asks, eyeing the devious smile curling Cardan’s lips; his hand comes up to cup hers, rubbing idle circles with his thumb. The touch is feather light, barely there and yet she feels her bones liquefying.
“You make it sound like I robbed them blind, darling.”

Inspired by the Scottish folk song Tam Lin/the Glasgow Reel, which is what I imagine them dancing to in this.
"My sweet nemesis," Arms closed around her waist from behind, making her sway with him, a familiar voice murmuring in her ear. "I was considering coming to your rescue, before that dull little creature bored you to death. Alas," She could hear the smirk in his voice. "I realised then that it was only fair you get to experience how I feel when you start droning on about matters of state,"
"Yes, do tell me how deathly dull I am," She replied, aiming for the usual sarcastic bite to her tone, but it came out embarrassingly slurred.
