Hax wakes up in the room, strapped to an office chair, hands are contorted behind his back and still wrapped in cold metal suppressors.
There’s nothing in his field of vision but the sterile countertops, painfully familiar. A small creak and the click of a door unlatching reverberates, just out of sight. The door closes.
Hax meets eyes with a dead man.
Nerdi has the same smile as always, too-clean lab coat and clipboard.
